Not a big fan of their coaching hire. I don't think he's a bad coach, but I expect they're gonna see some dropoff from Harbaugh who is solid across the board. So I think there's a good chance you are correct.

That said I think the Ravens will be glad down the road they backed out of that deal. I don't like that they went that far, and I think it reflects poorly on the org, but two first round picks including what may end up being an early pick in the 2027 draft, plus a top contract and cap hit on him feels like something Crosby was unlikely to live up to.

I thought the deal was trash, but they made it and waited until the Raiders had very few opportunities left with Crosby before backing out. They knew Crosby was the first and biggest domino… they really screwed the Raiders and whether it was retaliation for them signing Linderbaum or just redoing the math on the trade and going with the former Bengals DE, doesn’t matter.

They made a deal, locked up a prime player during the initial move phase and then backed out after like 5 teams made other decisions.

That’s massively bad karma and the league and agents won’t forget it.

Not sure if true or not but on drive home from work on the radio the guy said Hendrickson was excited to be teaming up with Crosby before he learned the trade was cancelled. Almost like they lured him into signing to team up with Crosby, then pulled the rug on the Crosby trade.

If true, what's to stop him from backing out from his deal? I think today was the first day they could sign, so if he hadn't of signed, he could have pulled a Ravens on the Ravens.

Otherwise, the Rams should bid 3 first-round picks for any and every free agent they have interest in and wait to see how their roster shapes up afterwards before deciding whether to actually follow through on those commitments.
Apples and oranges. When a deal with a FA is made it's after due diligence, and its completion doesn't impact another team, as the player is a free agent, i.e. doesn't belong to any team. No one "bids" picks for a FA - it's cash only. Crosby was under contract when the trade was made. It still doesn't mean that it wasn't a punk move by the Ravens.

My apologies. I meant to say trade targets...not free agents.

No idea, but as Merlin pointed out, might have been the money, heard was best offer he got.

I think that both parties had to be aware (should have been) of the deal being called off per NFL rules. I'm not aware of any proof positive that the Ravens got cold feet. They could have planned it as an option.

I’m firmly in the Ravens are scumbags and should be investigated camp. Idc what it’s for. Fuck them I hope they go 0-17 every year. Congratulations you earned a new lifetime hater.

Don't forget what the Raiders did to Saffold.

What goes around comes around.

I don't get why the Ravens are getting any benefit of the doubt here. Their own GM basically excused their recent conduct as doing what's best for the Baltimore Ravens. We have insider reporting on that happened on both sides as well as sentiment across the league within NFL circles, but we still have Ravens enablers and excuse-makers saying we don't have enough of the facts. Seriously, do we have to wait for an actual confession--regardless of evidence--from a thief before we can convict him/her of the crime?
