Restaurants are under siege by the coronavirus.
In CA governor newsome just directed all bars, brewpubs and wineries to shut down as they are nonessential to the state. I have friends who are brewery owners and they are currently insulted and running through their alternatives. Newsome directed restaurants to fill capacity to half as well.
The government should be reminded these are people who depend on incomes to pay rent, buy domestically, and flush our economy with cash.

The death rate will be the death rate. Over enough people we will see the truth of it regardless of how fast or slow it happens. And it's going to spread to most of the US because it's more infectious than the flu (flu infects 2 I believe per victim, coronavirus 3).
In fact the only thing the paranoia helps with is the amount of infections in time, which is important. It is helpful to slow the infection rate to allow for all of us to have hospital access if we need it. So the overreactions are not all bad. They help ensure our health workers are not overrun.
The bigger problem here is so many don't understand that. People acting like Tom Hanks, for example, had just gotten cancer when he announced he and his wife were infected.

No panic here in Mexico. Just went to the store and everything was normal. Mexicans are more concerned about infected American's spreading the disease.
I hope there won't be problems with my move to Tucson scheduled at the beginning of May. I'm hoping that sanity will have returned. A serious crisis, yes. Reason to panic? I don't think so. Besides how is buying up a garage full of TP going to save you? Limiting your trips I understand and agree. But this panic shopping makes no sense.
The run on guns and ammo is very scary. They going to shoot you because they think they need to defend their TP? Let me tell you as an experienced backcountry guy, 95% of the people in the US can't survive in the mountains. So they lock themselves in their bomb shelters until their supplies run out? Then what?
Look this virus isn't a tough SOB, in fact, it's fairly fragile by virus standards. Shower and wash hands frequently, and change and launder your clothes after going out are prudent and effective measures. More common sense and less panic are what is needed.

President Donald Trump on Sunday spoke with “more than two dozen” grocery store and supply chain executives and thanked them for their work as people flock to stores to stockpile on supplies over fears surrounding the spread of coronavirus.
Delivering his daily update on the coronavirus situation, Trump suggested Americans “just take it easy, just relax,” adding that the empty shelves all over the country are the result of "people buying anywhere three to five times of what they would normally buy.”
Though the White House said it is unnecessary for Americans to hoard daily supplies, the president told the store executives that stocked shelves with needed items will help Americans feel “safe and calm.”
Keeping shelves stocked and meeting the public’s demand has become an increasingly difficult task for supply chain stores, though. Major grocery stores like Kroger and Publix announced on Sunday that they are changing their store hours to better meet demand.
“Publix will continue to focus on keeping our associates healthy – and our stores open and stocked – to serve and support all our communities,” Todd Jones, Publix CEO, said in a statement regarding the chain closing earlier in order to properly clean and stock.
While the panic buying is in direct response to the coronavirus, it is in opposition to the ‘social distancing’ politicians have been promoting through Twitter. Putting yourself in a horde of people to get supplies likely increases your risk of being exposed to the virus, especially since grocery store employees are now coming into contact with more and more people.
Kroger even confirmed on Sunday that two employees — one at a King Soopers store in Colorado and one at a Fred Meyer's store in Washington state – have tested positive for coronavirus. The chain said they worked with state governments and health officials to properly sanitize those locations.
