This is going to be a Long one, even for me!

Starting with HB/S - Jerry Williams ( 1949-52)

He was a real 'Player'!
He rushed 64 times for 382 Yds. and 6 TD's an aver. of 6.0!
Heals had 16 receptions for 172 Yds. and 1 TD an aver. of 10.8.
Add to that 15 Int's for 175 Yds. and 2 TD's, 4 FR's, 13PR's for 99 Yds., and 6 KR's for 133 Yds. and you see what I mean about him being a 'Player'!
and he played in 5 Play-off games.

Next a BIG name! FB - Ollie Matson (1959-62)

He came to us after being with the Cards from '52-'58

And he hadn't lost a step

He rushed 249 times for 1214 Yds. and 9 TD's an aver. of 4.9!

He also had 65 receptions for 814 Yds. and 4 TD's an aver. of 12.5!

We also used him on Punt and Kick returns!

A 6 time Pro-Bowler and a 5 time all Pro!

Here he is with Dick Bass

And he went into the Hall of Fame as a Ram!

Next man up, RB - Willie Ellison: (1967-72)

He was an All Pro in 1971, and he rushed 656 times for 2901 Yds. and 20 TD's an aver. of 4.4.
He also had 90 receptions for 760 Yds. and 6 TD's. He Plated in 2 Playoff games


Next RB - Rob Scribner: (1973-76)

He rushed 73 times for 361 Yds. and 3 TD's an aver. of 4.9. He also had 6 receptions for 75 Yds. and a TD. and 750+ Yds. in PR's and KR's.

He also played in 7 Playoff games.


Next up, CB Dwayne O'Steen: (1978-79)

I don't know why I remember him, but I do! He had 4 Int's and 1 FR

Next, RB Jewerl Thomas: (1980-82)

He Rushed 115 times for 625 Yds. and 2 TD's with an aver. of 5.4!

He also played in 1 Playoff game 14 for 48 and 1 TD.

My Next Man, RB Charles White: (1985-88)

He rushed 504 times for 2133 Yds. and 14 TD's an aver. of 4.2

He Played in 4 Playoff games

In 1987 he was Named 'Comeback Player of the Year
He rushed for 1374 Yds (#1)
11 TD's (#1) and he had 350 Touches (#1)

And, of course, he was named an All Pro in 1987!

Next, RB - Derrick Harris1996. 1998-99)

In all this time he managed 2 TD's receiving!

Next up Justin Watson: ( 1999-2001)
Yes he was #36 also, But GSOT, Sooo..

Next up DB - Quinton Pointer: (2012-13)

I had High Hopes for him ..

He looked pretty good at times ..

But he didn't work out!

Next RB Cadillac Williams: (2011)

I thought we had something when we signed him, I was wrong!

And my Last for today, CB E.J. Gaines: (2013- Present)

He's our Future!

Ollie Matson! Wow....Now the guy I was waiting for was Jewerl Thomas....what happened to him? I remember him running crazy in a playoff game, now here is Dave telling me he was basically a scrub.....Only 2 years, and then poof! Gone.....oh well.

Jewerl Thomas did make himself noticeable while he was with us though!
His short time here did surprise me when I looked back at his stats!

ole jewerl thomas had back to back 100 yd games (147 / 144 ) vs dallas and atlanta. i believe the atlanta game was a monday night game and me thinking the Rams had a good back for the following season.

Jewerl's MNF big game was against 'boys, he is from my hometown along with former pack db Mark Lee, also Coach Cecil was on my HS team,he moved away before senior yr. Had alot of talent for town 20,000 at the time. Jewerl had big fam, lot of brothers played also.

You may have thought that we have covered the stats on these^ players real well, But I found More!! Here's some additional stuff ..
* HB/S - Jerry Williams - 1949-1952

In his 4 season and 46 games His longest rush was for 38 Yds. and his Longest Rec. was for 42 Yds. and his longest Int. was 25 Yds.
But in addition to those stats In his 5 Playoff games he had 1 rush for 6 Yds. / 1 Int. for 15 Yds. / 2 KR's for 56 Yds. w/ a long of 35 Yds. and a 28.0 aver.
Plus in 1949 & 1951 he was in the Top 10 in Int's returned for a TD. and in 1953 & 1954 he was in the Top 10 in All-Purpose Yds.


* FB - Ollie Matson 1959-1962

" He went into the Hall of Fame as A Ram even though All of his 6 Pro Bowls and 5 All-Pros where with the Cards!"
In addition to his previously mention stats he had 15 PR's for 61 Yds. w/ a long of 20 Yds. a 4.1 aver. / 25 KR's for 583 Yds. w/ a long of 48 Yds. a 23.3 aver. / and 12 Fumbles. He also went 1 for 2 Passing for 13 Yds. w/1 Int.

* RB Willie Ellison - 1967-1972

He was Drafted by the Rams in the 2nd Round # 33 overall in 1967.
In his 6 Years and 83 games his longest Rush was for 80 Yds. and his longest Rec. was for 49 Yds. and he had 19 Fumbles and 6 FR's. Additionally he had 42 KR's for 1011 Yds. / a long of 58 Yds. / and a 24.1 aver.
In his 4 Post season games he had 4 rushes for 22 Yds. / a long of 17 Yds. / 2 KR's for 54 Yds. / a long of 39 Yds. / a 27.0 aver. he went to the Pro Bowl in 1971.

* RB - Rob Schribner - 1973-1976

In his 4 seasons and 49 games he had a rushing long of 49 Yds. and a Rec. long of 25 Yds. He also had 45 PR's for 361 Yds. w/ a long of 23 Yds. a 8.0 aver. / 16 KR's for 392 Yds. w/ a long of 57 Yds. and a 24.5 aver. and 1 FR.

In his 4 seasons as a Ram he played in 59 games and his longest rush was for 58 Yds. and his longest Rec. was for 36 Yds.

* CB - E.J. Gaines - 2014-Present

Drafted in the 6th #188 overall " A STEAL!!"

"Too Bad he was injured last year!!"

In his 15 games played as a Ram he's had 2 Int's / 15 Passes defended / and 1 FR

He's also had 63 TKL's and 7 assists. ...

.. To go with 3 STF's ( stuff's for loss)
I hope he comes back strong this year!!

* RB - Arlen Harris -2003-2005

In his 3 seasons and 46 games he's had 118 rushes for 339 Yds. / 5 TD's /a long of 18 Yds. and a 2.9 aver. plus ..

28 targets w/ 23 Rec's for 180 Yds. / a 7.8 aver. / and a long of 26 Yds. and 4 Fumbles.

He also had 7 PR's for 36 Yds./ a long of 13 Yds. / 5.1 aver. / And 99 KR's for 2147 Yds. / a long of 42 Yds. /and a 21.7 aver. and 2 FR's

In his 1 Post season game he had 5 KR's for 124 Yds. w/ a long of 33 Yds. and a 24.8 aver

I remember rooting hard for Thomas. One of my high school coaches was a RB teammate at San Jose State. I was hoping he would bring him in to one of our practices, when the Rams were in town to play the whiners, but it never happened.

One other interesting side note on Willie Ellison is that he had one ridiculous game where he rushed for over 240+ yards. At the time it might have been the NFL record for most yards in a game. Of course Payton broke the record in the late 70’s with a 275 yard rushing game against the Vikes.
