I noticed a lot of opportunities where he's in the backfield in no time flat and should have had the TFL but the RB would find a way to sneak out...

Cossell said in his pre-draft analysis of Verse, that he has stiff hips. That explains his trouble turning the corner early on, and why more agile runners were able to avoid sacks. But as the year went on, Verse adjusted nicely and the Rams coaches did too by getting him more inside pass rushes with stunts and such.
It worked out in the long run and the learning curve is in the rear view mirror. I can’t wait to watch this pass rush in the coming season.

Well, he was a terrible finisher.....but, also, a great disruptor.
I think his sack numbers will improve.
But, his win rate and pressure rate is super impressive....he also missed quite a few tackle for loss opportunities.
Maybe from playing as fast as he can? not sure.
It surely is not a lack of strength.
Some of his wins against some excellent tackles was impressive as hell however.

If he is healthy I see double digit sacks this year. He knows what he needs to do to get that big second contract.

Every defensive end, defensive lineman, linebacker, and defensive back misses sacks every year, so this is nothing new. But Verse got to impulsive and reacted to his blocker than in remaining disciplined to his assignments. But at least he cares enough to want to learn from his mistakes and improve, as I have no doubt that he is going to have a monster year in the upcoming season.

I think it’s great that he recognizes what he was doing wrong. I remember AD saying a lot of the same things. It will be interesting to see if Jared gets the same attention AD got after his first season. I think we have too many pieces for teams to pull that off. Look for V8 to really improve his numbers this season.

Watch this video if you haven't already. Verse's bull rush is so, so, so good that the only way any OT can beat him is to quick set and try to win early. Which means when Verse finds that quick counter and makes it consistent he's going to be absolutely unstoppable.

Power is terrifying man. It's one thing to get beat off that edge with speed or get off. But if the dude can put you on your ass, where you gotta live down embarrassing viral highlights... No thanks. So I'm not surprised that OL who know they're going to be facing Verse are a little scared.
I couldn't believe how he was throwing vets around as a rook. Just crazy. And I hope he continues doing whatever the hell he was doing in getting ready for his opponents last year. Because damn.

And so it shouldn't. He didn't set the edge and allowed that fucker to get a 1st down. The number one priority when facing that guy is keeping him in the pocket and make him beat you with his arm. Anything else is wasted effort.

Let's be frank: if that's Stafford in the pocket, Verse is getting the sack. We just so happened to be facing one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league at his best.

... and that is one of the areas Jerad simply has to get more efficient at: containing the edge on mobile QBs and elusive RBs. He also has to learn to finish sacks or tackles for loss. You cannot have elusive little QBs like the Cardinals midget ducking under your arms to live to make a play out of what should have been nothing.
He will get there. However, I love! the fact that he already sees he can improve so much more on what was an outstanding rookie campaign.
