Cory Littleton tender - when?

I haven't seen anything about him actually being tendered. I know they have more time to officially do it, it seems weird that they haven't. I suppose they are letting him negotiate with other teams for a long term contract, but I'd think it made sense to get him locked up so his agent doesn't waste time with teams unwilling to give up a pick for him.

I know the deadline, but he's allowed to negotiate with other teams now, and it seems unfair for him to not know what his tender would be. I suppose they could have told him - but in that case, why not make it official?

I hope we at least sign him to a first round tender, if not re-sign him to a multi-year extension. Littleton has been an excellent inside linebacker and a special teams demon, so I hope that the team values him as much as I do.

I don’t think that’s correct. I don’t believe RFA can negotiate with other teams until after the beginning of the league year.
Otherwise, you let them all sign elsewhere, and then slap a 1st round tender on them and say you aren’t matching

I think the club has until Wednesday to put a tender on them or they then become ufa, but if they place the tender only then can the player negotiate an offer sheet elsewhere

Do you have a source for that? I've looked at dozens of sites, and none said that, though to be fair they mostly are ambiguous about such things. Thanks in advance.

There’s this:
A restricted free agent is a player with an expired contract who has played at least three seasons in the league and received a qualifying offer from his team. Typically, they're either formerly undrafted players or draft picks who were released and later signed by either another team or the one that first selected them.

Once a player's contract expires, his team can one of three qualifying offers: a first-round tender, a second-round tender or an original-round tender (the round in which the player was originally selected). After a team commits to one of those three options, all 31 other franchises are allowed to negotiate a contract with that player in free agency. If another squad agrees to a deal with the player, it must trade the pick corresponding with the type of tender to the previous team...but only if the original organization chooses not to match the offer.

Correct. Legal tampering is only for UFAs.

For whatever reason, Snead has always wanted until the day FA starts to tender RFAs

The club’s starting middle linebacker in 2018, Littleton is an upcoming restricted free agent and has been given a second-round tender. With that, Littleton is able to negotiate with other teams but should he reach a deal, that team would have to send L.A. a second round pick as compensation.


Safety Blake Countess, running back Malcolm Brown, and cornerback Troy Hill all received an original-round tender. Since both Brown and Hill entered the league as undrafted free agents, this gives the Rams only the right of first refusal to any deal the two should reach on the open market. But because Countess was a sixth-round draft pick, any other team that signs Countess would have to send L.A. a sixth round pick as compensation.

Los Angeles also tendered five of its six exclusive rights free agents: defensive end Morgan Fox, cornerback Kevin Peterson, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, cornerback Dominique Hatfield, and return specialist JoJo Natson. Both Fox and Peterson suffered season-ending knee injuries before the season started, but they could also play significant roles on the 2019 squad if healthy. Natson, of course, took over as the Rams’ returner due to the injury to former returner Pharoh Cooper in 2018. Hodge and Hatfield played mostly on special teams during the 2018 season.

Additionally, outside linebacker Dante Fowler has signed his one-year contract for the 2019 season.

That’s probably the right tender level, but if you’re picking late 2nd... getting a starting LB...D signal caller... sounds like something I’d consider.
