oh my god I can't believe he didn't throw 54 into 64 then him and whitworth could have taken the rest of the play off. just kidding that was great and exactly what we need a lot more of.

It's better than what Allen did against the whiners earlier in the season, push the defender right into noteboom's leg and tearing his acl. I wonder if they still talk to each other.

No question he's earned the start at LG. What the highlight also shows is what I've been saying about Edwards struggling at RG where he's slow in picking up the block. He came in as the least polished of the two between him and Evans. He's at a disadvantage leverage wise because of his height.

Bobby Evans is built like an OG, 6'4", 312 lbs, 34.75" arms, while Edwards is built like an OT, at 6'6", 308 lbs, 33" arms. Why Kromer didn't switch them makes no sense. Outside they can give Edwards help with a TE chip and it simplifies his read.

Bottom line is they have their LG and right side if they simply flip Edwards and Evans. As much as McVay likes Whitworth I don't see him being extended. I would like him as a O-line coach however, since I sincerely have my doubts about Kromer.

I think it was a major mistake by McVay to completely withhold his brand new o-line from the preseason and not allowing them to gel as a unit before the season. I don't think he will make that mistake next year. I think they have the makings of a good o-line with the guys they have (with the exception of Blythe). They look to have decent swings in Brewer and Shelton and a backup center in the making in Trewyn.

As long as they stay healthy I see no reason to think that this o-line isn't built and can't play well next year and that is the key to his offense.

well said , Blythe is gone & I still want Whitworth, unless one of these guys can step up at LT !!
From last years draft , my thought was Evans to play LG ??
Can Corbett play Center?? or is Allen the man next season again ???
Edwards can be a good swing guy. I think you have it wrong about Kromer, because I believe he is the one who scouted the Offensive Lineman drafted ??
—Don’t know who found Corbett , but what a find at a desperate time. I don’t know where The Rams would be without him ???

I think Corbett & the growth of these young players has been huge. To play one playoff game vs the experience these guys have got under fire is well worth the future of the franchise to me !!! Yeah - I agree about not playing Allen & Noteboom!! Even not playing out of shape Big Rob !!! The experience Edwards & Evans did get was huge .. Demby got a lot of reps that were wasted though . Just shows the development of the line since last season.
I think it is a strength moving forward!!

Major mistake by Kromer? Have you been an O line coach in the NFL?

Still waiting for Big Rob to play RT ?? After 3 weeks off the IR he should be ready ?? Just like the future of the O”Line & think Kromer is doing a good job, no matter how any of us look at it ??
I look back at the last 10years and wonder how the WINE coach could keep his job !! Horrible O”Lines !!

Notice also that McVay/Kromer's new OL hires (Corbett, Evans, Edwards, Brewer) all come with OT college backgrounds, which should translate to better feet & improved pass pro at interior positions than your average OG, some coaching up in rush blocking is going to take them to the next level if they develop properly. jmo.

I couldn't agree with you more and have said as much for decades that some of your best o-line are drawn from collegiate OT's. They generally have the feet and ability to move lacking in most college OG's. In that regard I also favor collegiate OG's as NFL centers. Most evaluators regard centers as OG's who don't meet NFL metrics for the position. I like what Snead has done with Brian Allen, who has the physical traits of an NFL OG particularly the long arm length (34") giving him a much better play radius.

You can see the disadvantages of short arms and shorter stature has when Austin Blythe attempts to block one on one. In today's defenses, the center must be able to play as a third OG.

BTW Corbett was on their draft radar but Cleveland beat them to him.

Will be interesting to see what position he opens in training camp with. I thought he played solid considering he got thrown in mid season.
Hopefully left guard.

He played really well, for the most part, next to Blythe who I wouldn't mind seeing re-signed.

I would really like to see how this offensive line works out with a full Camp under their belt at their present positions.

I think there will be a lot of revolving doors with this group. Kromer likes to cross train guys .
The question is about the 2 bookends ?
Whitworth wants back
Big Rob has a big contract
— Blythe might not be worth bringing back because of the young talent.I always thought Allen was a wasted draft pick, but he is under contract. I also think he is still an ascending player. A tough guy.

Good point on the 3 weeks off the IR.
If Evans is starting over a healthy Hav, I will admit I am wrong about Hav....but, McVay said he is healthy?

I didn't like when Allen was drafted and I like him less now, Blythe at Center was a major improvement from the line calls and overall improvement in the run game. Now I would like the Rams to draft a Center in 2020 I like Cesar Ruiz of Michigan, @jrry32 suggested Nick Harris of Washington as I am hoping Allen is only a reserve moving forward.

It's early yet but i'm currently favoring moving Corbett over to Center from LG, this would solve many problems in-house imo. I also have Trewyn as first reserve while Allen & Shelton hit the practice squad. My mock has us taking Cesar Ruiz in the later rounds for increased C/OG competition, although doubt he or any other center draftee will be considered as starting material for McVay/Kromer as a rookie. The starting & reserve OG positions could then be a fight between Edwards, Brewer, Evans, Trewyn, Corbett & a potential 2020 draftee. Obviously, a free agent Center or OG changes the entire outlook.
I realize it goes against all logic at this point, but don't rule out Demby yet in some role as the brass must still see something in him or he'd be on the practice squad instead of the 53, many of these players should show a good deal of improvement between their year 1 and 2 development. jmo.

All is does is shows the depth The Rams have upfront now. I think we know less about Noteboom & Allen than any of the offensive lineman starting.
I also wonder about Big Rob’s healthth for the future. He needs a strong offseason.

will see what the draft ends up looking like. Still really early in the process. Looking forward to today’s game.
