Leverage is a beautiful thing.
This is also a good display of what guys like J Rob and Jamon Brown would not do. Play with balance. When I have said (1000 times probably) an OL lunges to try and block and gets beaten....well this is the opposite.
Never got out of balance.
Never lost his feet so he could take on the stunt.
Only one play.....but a good one.

Will be interesting to see what position he opens in training camp with. I thought he played solid considering he got thrown in mid season.

Puts 54 on the ground and picks up 64 on the stunt! Well done!

Corbett could be the steal of 2019, hope he gets a real shot at center next pre-season.

No question he's earned the start at LG. What the highlight also shows is what I've been saying about Edwards struggling at RG where he's slow in picking up the block. He came in as the least polished of the two between him and Evans. He's at a disadvantage leverage wise because of his height.

Bobby Evans is built like an OG, 6'4", 312 lbs, 34.75" arms, while Edwards is built like an OT, at 6'6", 308 lbs, 33" arms. Why Kromer didn't switch them makes no sense. Outside they can give Edwards help with a TE chip and it simplifies his read.

Bottom line is they have their LG and right side if they simply flip Edwards and Evans. As much as McVay likes Whitworth I don't see him being extended. I would like him as a O-line coach however, since I sincerely have my doubts about Kromer.

I think it was a major mistake by McVay to completely withhold his brand new o-line from the preseason and not allowing them to gel as a unit before the season. I don't think he will make that mistake next year. I think they have the makings of a good o-line with the guys they have (with the exception of Blythe). They look to have decent swings in Brewer and Shelton and a backup center in the making in Trewyn.

As long as they stay healthy I see no reason to think that this o-line isn't built and can't play well next year and that is the key to his offense.

It makes sense from the perspective of someone who watches these players daily in practice as opposed to Sunday afternoon QB couch GM's. Size isn't necessarily a problem unless you can't get out of your own way or an opposing defensive player is consistently getting under your pads and using leverage against you.

Notice also that McVay/Kromer's new OL hires (Corbett, Evans, Edwards, Brewer) all come with OT college backgrounds, which should translate to better feet & improved pass pro at interior positions than your average OG, some coaching up in rush blocking is going to take them to the next level if they develop properly. jmo.

Way too inconsistent to be a starter at this stage.

I will spare the ugly footage. Long way to go for this dude, though he has the tools to get there.

Evans
Havenstein
Noteboom
Corbett
Edwards
Brewer
Allen

There may be five starters in that bunch. Maybe only three. But I believe the Rams have a good core, will add one or two pieces, and have a pretty good line next year.

I think this guy will end up being a stud for us. Hes young, got him on the cheap and he seemed play well with not a lot of prep. Making of a good player

He was a find for Snead, no doubt about it. I think he'll be somewhere from a good depth option to an average starter next year which is nice for a midseason pickup. If he's going to start he needs to improve mostly in his pass sets but he absolutely has the talent.

Add a good FA lineman to this interior and draft a Center and all of a sudden you might have something. We'll certainly have competition in camp this time around, that's for damn sure.

Most teams use their OTAs and training camp to set their (rookies-raw)starting o-line and use the preseason games for them to get used to playing alongside each other.

With a full off season he might be starter material. But keep in mind this is what we did with Allen and Noteboom. They were a huge reason our run game was bottom of the league.

I would mark in Corbett as depth and definitely not go into 2020 with him as a starter.

Major mistake by Kromer? Have you been an O line coach in the NFL?

oh my god I can't believe he didn't throw 54 into 64 then him and whitworth could have taken the rest of the play off. just kidding that was great and exactly what we need a lot more of.
