I guess this means Shelton will be starting at RG. I have no problem with that. It's why Shelton was signed to a prove-it type of 2 year deal. I like Shelton but he does have a few issues Carberry needs to clean up. He's another journeyman type of OG who provides them with a clear backup center.

Sad to see him go but at that price it was inevitable.

I think people downplay his value. Corbett was at his best at LG. But even at RG, where the Rams placed him for a variety of reasons, he still played well and held down a Super Bowl winning post. He can also play centre. The Rams, at one point early in the season, actually looked like they might put Corbett there after Blyth's departure.

Good player. Very versatile. You can never have enough lineman capable of playing multiple positions on the line at a high level. Especially with how injuries can pile up in the trenches and force a re-shuffle. It is why I wanted Blyth back if he was willing to take backup money and role expectations, whereas many others wanted him run out of town.

But it is a business, and so Corbett's time as a Ram had run its course.

Hopefully this nets the Rams a nice comp pick.

Don't think there was much choice on this. Shelton is serviceable as a replacement. Allen and Noteboom are more important.

Main thing is Rams can't pay Corbett $29m when they're trying to sign Von Miller and maybe even Bobby Wagner.

I truly don't think Corbett unless a cheap deal was worth bringing back. Not a good run blocker and serviceable at best at pass blocking.

I hate to see a Ram go, but the draft is loaded with interior linemen and tackles who supposedly project there as well.

Also don't sleep on Evans. Hopefully he takes his game up a notch this year.

Corbett was very solid. Best RG during Mcvay's tenure hands down. Not great but really solid overall in my opinion.

Agree.....we need to make sure we still draft an IOL for depth or sign a solid one in the later parts of FA (if that's even still a possibility)

His play in the playoffs was excellent. That game vs SF in particular him and Hav did a great job picking up stunts and generally moving guys. He was definitely the one to get paid of the three FAs. Boom can't compare because of snaps. Corbs there was no way we were gonna get him at a bargain.

Good luck to Corbett. I wanted to keep him, but hey, we're probably getting a fourth round comp pick as a result (some of the crazy signings will likely prevent a third round pick. I mean, Christian fucking Kirk being the third highest paid receiver in the league? Absolute insanity.)

Huge. We got the equivalent of a very high second round pick (Corbett was the 33rd pick in his draft.) for a fifth. If that doesn't convince the casual fans of the NFL (none here; y'all are as knowledgeable as I've seen) that Les Snead is an absolute godsend and that he's just as good a GM as McVay is a coach, then there's no helping them.

I'd put Shelton, Anchrum, Jackson, Pircher, and maybe even Brewer over Evans easily. I'm sorry, but Evans looked absolutely hideous going against third stringers in preseason. Anchrum looked competent, Shelton played well when players went out, Jackson looked fantastic in limited time, Pircher's potential is sky-high, and Brewer looked good before he sat out a year.

I don't see a reason to keep Evans when you have four solid offensive linemen, and that's not even counting draft picks.

Those guys could be better but they’ve all had limited snaps. My comment is based on McVays history so far. He likes giving veterans more than enough chances to win a starting job. It took a while for Gaines, Jones, Akers etc to get a chance at securing their positions. Not that I think he’s better, but I believe Evans gets once last crack due to this philosophy.
