Thats unacceptable. From my understanding, we save more cap releasing him next year. Just keep him this season, if a solid offer happens, I guess take it. But releasing him should not be an option.
So what do you think the Rams are telling themselves to convince themselves to do it?

I predict we keep Kupp this year after the JJ deal to the Bears. Might even get him to take a slight pay cut.

I was thinking the same. If they in fact saved 10M on that trade, maybe they can work something out with Kupp. Maybe a slight salary cut this this year with a reduced roster bonus and salary. Maybe you give him a small guarantee of bonus money next year in exchange for the cut in his overall money to be paid this year. That way if he is released next year, he gets some guaranteed money.

I believe that the temptation of a $15 mil cap savings on a post June 1 designation is just too much for the Rams to pass up at this point. Perfect world scenario would be that and then he re-signs for 1 year at $5-$7 million. That's a pipe dream and is just highly unlikely to happen. One can dream though.

But they don’t see the Cap savings until June 1 so it doesn’t help them in free agency.

It will at cut time though. We probably won’t make too big of a splash in early FA anyways. Maybe a CB and LB?

Come on Kupp you don't want to change teams now. Seven million this year with incentives. And if the Rams were smart they would talk to Kupp about a post career coaching spot. Go out wearing horns!

He can sign elsewhere but still counts against the Rams cap until June 1. May as well rip the band aid off and start 26 clean

To be clear, doesn't help them "early" in free agency. There's still plenty of discussion to be had and there will be leftovers and $15 million on cap is not just scraps.

Maybe leave his contract as-is for this season make him a free agent in 2026 (throw a few million into a void year).

But I'm tired of thinking of ways Kupp could stick around. If he wanted a deal, it would be done by now.

I do find it interesting that we were able to trade Jonah Jackson so easily, but we’ve yet to hear of any offers from other teams when it comes to Kupp. If all the other teams view Kupp as the Rams do it might come down to either Kupp taking a cut, or being cut.

There’s nothing they can do with his contract. 30 mill cap hit, still has contract for 2026.
Only way he could have stuck around is if they added years to his deal to spread the dead money out. But clearly the Rams don’t see an immediate future with Kupp much less a longer term future

Demarcus Robinson did absolutely nothing when both Kupp and puka were out injured. He's the wr3 at best. He can't replace Kupp.

Unless you mean Kupp has deteriorated so much that drob is now better than him against man, then i get what you're saying.

.
I noticed DRob was being used more on what used to be a bread and butter play for Kupp—the out to the front pylon when the Rams are inside the 10 yard line. Kupp has scored a bunch of TDs on that play. Last year it was DRob starting to get that throw.

Am I the only one who does not think he will be traded? I dont think the Rams will trade Kupp. Only way they move from him is if they can somehow fanagle a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him...which I dont think will ever happen. When its all said and done, Kupp will be a Ram next year. Book it.
This is the issue I’m having with this whole thing. Everybody sees what is happening with Kupp. Teams have to wrestle with that big contract AND give up good picks? There aren’t a lot of teams with that kind of luxury.

So nobody bites. Now what? Can you bring Kupp back after all of this? I’m not so sure you can. So what are the Rams to do? Cut him? Yikes. I’ll say this about that, if the Rams cut Cooper Kupp, he will be far more attractive to teams and will be picked up immediately.

I don't think the pick demand will be that high.

At this point probably would take a 5th and might even swap a 6th along with Kupp for that 5th.

We can thank that stiff John wolford for Kupp's demise.

That horrible fucking throw he made to Kupp that left him hanging to be injured set the chain reaction to what Kupp has become now.

Could be, unless they eat more of his salary to facilitate a trade, but why do that when you didn't do it for Jackson?

Actually, I am surprised they got a 5th for Jackson.

I was thinking the Chargers might give up something for Kupp. They have cap room and need WR help, unless they feel they would have the inside track to sign him if released since he wouldn't have to move.
