So my Dad comes home tonight, and I haven't seen him in a few weeks cos he's been away working and I've been away working. So we are chatting for a little while, and he says, "Son, I meant to ask you, you're big into American football aren't you?"
So I say, "Yes, why?"
To contextualise, my Dad is also into football, although not to the extent that I am. He's a Bengals fan, I'm not sure why. Something to do with Boomer being good when he was young I think.
Anyway, he says, "Well, I had this American lady in for a meeting this week, and she did a presentation about teamwork. She referenced her cousin, who was drafted last week."
I was like "WOW, that's cool! What was his name?!"
He says, "I can't remember. He nearly won a trophy though. A Herman? i think she called it?"
Me: "A Heisman?!"
He says "Yeah! That was it!"
"What was his name!!"
"Alex? I think? Alex something?"
"Do you mean Andrew Luck, as in, like, THE qb prospect of the last decade?!"
"Yeah, that was his name. I knew you'd get it."
This was in my Dad's office, in a hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland. Awesome.
