Got his first win with his first start for the Broncos.

Baker has shown zero growth since last year. He's still a one read QB. Take away that first read and he's lost. His inability to read defenses is why many evaluators didn't see him as a #1 pick in the draft. He should be showing some kind of progress in his second year but IMO he isn't. He could end up another Brown bust. OJB isn't a happy camper because of it.

Just hope Allen's play this doesn't make Wolford a poaching target now. Wolford is probably going to be #2 next year as an upgrade to Mannion long term.

What got him the W was piss poor decisions by the Browns Freddie Kitchens. He may have lost his job yesterday. I wouldn't be shocked if he is gone at the end of the year. It could even happen today.

4th and 1 on the Denver 5.........on the road take the points or give it to your top flight RB not your fucking QB.

4th and 4 and they go for it from the 28 yard line and fail. With 3.23 on the clock mind you.

Those 6 points he left on the field win the game for the Browns.

He looked like a QB that could be good but the reason he is 1-0 is because Kitchens is unfit for that job.

EDIT: Disagree on Mayfield, he will be fine.

Everybody praised John Dorsey and now, it's bad. IMO, fire Kitchens and hire Mike McCarthy. They worked together in Green Bay and if nothing else, you now have a Veteran Coach that will be rejuvenated in improving Mayfield. Now, they might try for Lincoln Riley, but IMO, Riley will not leave Oklahoma for Cleveland, he will for Dallas.

Also, I believe that Baylor Head Coach Matt Rhule will be an NFL Head Coach next year too. Not sure where, but he's a New Yorker and coached with the football Giants...If the Giants stick with Shurmur, I would not be shocked if the Jets admit the mistake with Beady eyed Gase and fire him and bring in Rhule to restore some hope for Gang Green. Rhule is one hell of a football coach!

I agree about Ruhle. Damn fine coach. I think he’ll get some better college offers as well. It will be interesting to see which way he goes.

I like the thinking with Dorsey/McCarthy. I was praising Dorsey all along but when he hired Kitchens as the head coach I scratched my head. Not that he’s great but Greg Williams would have been a better choice, especially if Kitchens stayed as OC.

The other trouble with Dorsey is he ignored the whole ego thing. He has always liked high Sparq score type athletes. I understand him wanting Beckham and Landry, but despite their friendship it seems like a too many cooks in the kitchen thing. I would have passed on O’dell.

I really liked Mayfield and he looked good last year but he needs to focus on football and get back to where he was. He needs to see Tom House this summer. If I were McCarthy I wouldn’t want to take on that task. There are a lot of egos on board and if the ship doesn’t get righted quickly, then he could have a problem on his hands. Either way Freddie has to go.

I think he's up to the task and maybe they trade Landry, but there is plenty of talent and that is better than the alternative and if you turn around the Browns, you will go down as one heck of a Head Coach IMO and McCarthy wants to change the bad taste that was left in Green Bay, it's a good match IMHO.

Remember, Brandon Allen sucks and can’t play?
At least that is per the majority of the board.
He can play fine.
Watched most of the game.
The Broncos did a good job of protecting him. Their rookie TE broke through a bad tackling Browns D that padded Allen yard total.
The Browns pathetic offense kept the pressure off of Allen in terms of having to make a play.
Allen did a better job of not dropping his elbow when throwing. Don’t know if that will continue and will be interesting to see how he plays going forward.

I'm not saying it's bad, but this coaching hire was a mistake. And I don't see the Browns FO keeping him around when it's obvious to everyone he is in over his head.

This is a good job for someone, lots of pieces are in place, including all the skill positions on offense and a strong GM.

They need a guy like McVay or Shanahan.

The discipline is terrible. They are averaging over 12 penalties per game, they lead the NFL and have played 8 games. Even teams with 9 games in have fewer penalties.

IMO if they get the right HC/OC they will ascend like so many thought they were going to do this year.

This is a similar situation to our Rams a few years ago.

Nothing has changed, Mayfield is a playmaker and will be in this league.

Dorsey failed with the promotion of Kitchens to head coach. There are far too many personalities in that room that require a strong leader. Kitchens is more an OC than a HC type and they will need to find the right leader.

Dorsey also failed by not putting enough into the OL. That line is absolute garbage. This next offseason however he will address the line for sure.

Question for the Browns is how long does it take Dorsey to find the right head coach. Which IMO is the single most important decision a GM makes.

For those of you that didn't make this a Browns thread, awesome job. Fuck them and their dickhead QB.

We always wondered what a backup playing with the Ones would look like (Mannion), and you got to see it yesterday with BA.

He was mostly on target with his throws, didn't try to do too much, didn't forget his running game and did NOT turn the ball over.

Great Job Brandon Allen!

Good to see a former Ram backup get his moment. For gosh sakes, this is a 6th rounder winning his first start. He'll go back to the bench at some point, but yesterday had to be fun.

Did you see him clutching the ball after the last victory formation?

Not giving that ball back.

Now, he's got something to tell his grandkids.

Dude is getting no help in that development and Kitchens puts him in horrible spots as his situational play-calling is utterly atrocious.

Good analogy. Lot's of talent but sub-par coaching and no discipline. Sadly, that is Fisher's Rams in a nutshell. Though I must say, the job he did with a marginal NFL roster in '12 was amazingly good.

I always believed in Brandon Allen, far more than Sean Mannion at least. Very talented imo, strong arm and accurate as well. Could have a potential future as a starter in this league, depending on how this stint with the Broncos goes.

I didn't see hate for Brandon on this board. What i saw was that Wolford clearly beat him out in preseason. Do I see Brandon as a long term starter? Who knows, but he's off to a good start and has half a season to audition for a start either in Denver or elsewhere. Regardless if he plays well he will tremendously increase his value as a backup QB.

The career window has increased tremendously these past few years. There is more than one backup who ended up with a decent career. What he has done is shown he's got enough talent to play in the NFL.

So IMO good for him. It also increases Bortles value due to the McVay affect which is exactly what he was hoping for. He might be the biggest winner here.
