Just rewatched the Colts game. Drilled down into each pass pro play by our offense. I came away with the following - Awesome blocking all around by Havenstein, Dotson, Shelton and Avila. The group missed one 5 man pressure on a stunt but that is it for the most part. Noteboom had his moments of excellent blocks but he gave up at least 6 pressures by my count. He is obviously a massive upgrade over Thomas but was getting beat a few too many times. Jackson is probably better out there and I can see why he won the job. Sometimes Boom is a tick to slow to respond to a move or just gets beat around the edge. Luckily most of the time Stafford got the ball out. 2 plays really stand out. One was an inside move that Boom completely whiffed on and the other was an outside move where Boom had to wrap the guy quickly to save Stafford, Boom was flagged for holding on that one.

It's crazy how stout our interior is now. More stout then the Super Bowl combo of Edwards, Allen and Corbett. The LT is the only dropoff from the level Whitworth was playing at 40.

But the RB blitz pickup is better so overall it's a better pass pro line.

With Kupp back we should be a 34 point per game offense, barring health.

Avila was manhandling Indy lineman including Buckner which is no small task. Dotson earned himself more playing time all though he had a few miscues in pass blocking but nothing egregious. Agree with Having Boom be just a backup LT once Jackson is back and leave Dotson out there. Shelton is really looking good this year and Havenstein is Mr. reliable as always. Health is key to our success.

#69 RG Dotson blocking #90 at the point of attack. Kyren scoots right through for his 2nd TD. Avila had power driven out #96 and then turned to watch. Shelton comes around for a nice seal on #44. Hav crashes on #94. Great work by the O-line.

Stadium police were immediately summoned on reports of a mauling. :laugh4::helmet:

Noteboom had stood up his man on this TD sequence who then took a lunge and missed, ending up on the ground. Not what I would call a pancake but if your man ends up laying on the turf one way or another it's a good thing.

Personal opinion would be to split snaps between Noteboom and Jackson at LT to keep them both fresh/less chance of injury and keep Dotson at RG.

How do you do that? One in the first half and the other in the second half?

Noteboom gave up 4 pressures, nearly 6. If you believe in PFF grades his run blocking grade was very low. They gave him a 30.5 while nobody else scored below 60 in run blocking. Maybe it was having to transition back to left tackle, but run blocking hasn’t been his strength there.

I’d be practicing him at both OLT and ORG in practice and have him be the swing man for backing up. Since Thomas didn’t workout well at OLT go back to working him at guard like they did in preseason and let McClendon be the third tackle in practice. So Saffold is the top backup with two reserves that they hopefully never need this season.

Btw Dotson got the highest run blocking grade for the team on Sunday at 86. How could the move him out of that ORG position when Jackson is healthy and They decide between Noteboom and Dotson?

Agreed. Noteboom should be backup to Jackson and Also Dotson.

Dotson claimed his spot Sunday with an excellent outing.

The Eagles front will test all of them further though.

You could also say Boom claimed the LT spot with an excellent outing.

Excellent? Noteboom allowed 6 pressures. He was lucky he didn't have a Hendrickson lined up across from him like Thomas did...

Is Noteboom lightyears better than Thomas at LT? Yes

Is he the best LT on the roster? No

Estaban (spell it right, if you're going to critique me, Loyal; I thought you knew that as a writer) Avila then. But Chatarius Atwell has a nickname that I just don't like. "Steve" is at least a first name that can be derived from "Estaban". And honestly? Chatarius isn't a hard name to say. I don't know why folks call him by a nickname.

Maybe it's what he prefers.

I would never call someone by Chatarius - that sound's like a name that only a mom would call him if he was in trouble.

Chaterius - you come in this house this instant young man

I think I would have to shorten it somehow - However, Chat just does not sound right - too close to Shat

Maybe Terry

It was his dad's name (and his dad also went by the same nickname his kid gets called here). So technically, he's Chatarius Atwell II. I mean, English names change, much like the English language changes. I'm not going to mock names unless they're purposely done to gratify the parents while humiliating the child. Chatarius is not one of those names.

Or maybe Tutu works fine for his family, friends & fans, and the critics should just chill.

I was just responding to Memento stating about calling him Chaterius - that it isn't hard to say

Sorry - too formal
