Apparently the Washington front office wants to play Haskins instead of Keenum. Gruden was never on board with the Haskins selection, which made no sense to me. Haskins has much more potential than Keenum and Smith have. In my opinion, that's a fire-able offense, and I'm no fan of the Washington front office and ownership.

Jay Gruden is an odd one. I feel like he does a good job with QBs and the offense. I think his teams overachieved with Cousins (except for Cousins' last year). But he also had McVay at that time. However, his team was 6-4 last year before Alex Smith got hurt. I feel like he's a solid HC and a good offensive mind. He needs to hire better DCs, though. Joe Berry and Manusky were terrible hires. So yeah, I can't blame them for firing him, but I don't think he's a bad coach. I'd say he's like Jim Caldwell. He's average.
So he is the Offensive Jeff Fisher huh?

I don't think Kitchens (spelling) would be on the hot seat.

If Jay Gru gets kicked out of DC would Jim Tomsula be an interim HC til they can get someone else? Would be interesting to see the Grudens working together in Vegas.

Gotta wait and see on Quinn. They suffered a ridiculous number of injuries last year. Before that, Quinn was doing well. It's not easy to fire a guy who got you to the Super Bowl and probably should have won it. But again, like Gruden losing McVay, he hasn't looked the same since Kyle Shanahan left.

For me, the hot-seat coaches would be:
Jay Gruden (WAS)
Freddie Kitchens (CLE)
Dan Quinn (ATL)
Ron Rivera (CAR)

I also think guys like Doug Marrone (JAX) and Bill O'Brien (HOU) could be in trouble if they underperform. Finally, first-year HCs like Adam Gase (NYJ), Kliff Kingsbury (ARI), and Vic Fangio (DEN) could get dumped if their teams continue to look bad.

Gruden is screwed with his QB situation as we find out when the skins actually got on the clock they were divided on who to take scouts wanted one person and owner wanted another. They never dreamed the guy they got would fall to them especially after Giants took Duke kid Daniel. They were not prepared. I doubt this guy can save them like he did Ohio State so mny times. Kitchens is obviously in over his head as he called plays last year and know game management and so much more are involved.

That draw play still stings in Cleveland and their schedule is fixing to be a coach killer. I don't see a win in a very long time. Quinn has his defense playing better only in the dome. Beating the eagles was huge for them. I'm not looking forward to playing them at home in that dome. They need to beat the saints so bad before brees gets back. No rash of injuries for Quinn this year so far. Gruden needs an OL & qb to be a real stud. Ryan looks good again with all those wr's for falcons. Rivera just needs a solid quality QB after they move on from Cam. I agree Marrone needs to get a handle on his situation with his rouge talented player. I still see the jags winning a few more games without their CB. Big game against Texans and their 2 talented wr's . Ramsey will be missed and needed against those two stud wr's. Ron Rivera gonna ride McCaffery as long as he can and pray that cursed foot of Greg Olsen doesn't finally fall off as he is their Zack Ertz when healthy . A real seam buster.

Yeah, I would say to some degree.

I don't think Kitchens (spelling) would be on the hot seat.

With all the talent the Browns have, if he continues to look in over his head, I think they'll end the experiment.

If Kitchens were smart, he'd hand the offense over to his OC and focus on running the team. Monken was outstanding with the Bucs last year as OC and is arguably better at his job than Kitchens. No reason for Kitchens to continue to shoulder so much responsibility when he has two capable coordinators. He's not McVay. That much is obvious. But he might be able to do the HC job if he trusts the people under him.

Does anyone agree with me that the Cleveland coach could be the next Jeff Fisher? Went 7-9 with a clearly talented team. Starts 1-2 and should be at least 2-1 and possible 3-0 if he runs the ball against the Rams on the goal line. Not that I care but Kitchens has Fisher like qualities. Or is that just me?

Report Suggests NFL Coach Could Be Fired With Loss On Sunday

What makes the NFL so special is that every game is so valuable. On the flip side, it’s possible that a few coaches are placed on the hot seat after just the first quarter of the season.

It turns out there is one coach in particular that is facing a must-win game this weekend.

With the Washington Redskins still winless on the season, the front office might be inclined to pull the trigger and fire its current head coach.

According to Les Carpenter of The Washington Post, the Redskins could fire Jay Gruden if the team loses on Sunday to the Giants.

Gruden is in the midst of his sixth season in Washington.

The Redskins weren’t considered a playoff team heading into this season. Nonetheless, there is chatter around the league that Gruden’s time as head coach is running out.

From The Washington Post:

Two people with knowledge of the situation say Gruden could be fired if Washington doesn’t beat the New York Giants on Sunday. Earlier this week, the betting site Bovada.com updated its odds on the NFL coach likeliest to be fired first this year, making Gruden its top choice.
Only one team in NFL history has started 0-4 and made the playoff later that season – the San Diego Chargers back in 1992.

Not only would a loss on Sunday essentially end Washington’s chances of making the postseason, it could spell the end of Gruden’s tenure as the head coach.

Dwayne Haskins calls report of a rift over Redskins QB situation 'fake news'

Following a miserable but not entirely surprising 0-3 start to the season for the Redskins, fans have been calling for the organization to turn away from Case Keenum to the quarterback of the future, 15th overall pick Dwayne Haskins. According to various reports, however, Redskins coaches may not be on board with starting Haskins, who reportedly isn’t getting reps in practice.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Friday, Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt reported that there is a rift between Redskins and executives and Redskins coaches over the fate of Haskins, who is set to back up Keenum as Washington faces the Giants and rookie quarterback Daniel Jones on Sunday. According to Klatt, the Redskins’ coaching staff was against drafting Haskins entirely.

Haskins refuted Klatt’s report on Twitter, calling it “fake news.”

On Thursday, Redskins running back Chris Thompson defended Jay Gruden, and responded to a report that Haskins isn’t being put in a position to succeed.
