The beautiful thing is, he, like Goff is young and will only continue to get better.
Waiting on his 20yr extension!

Vaguely remember George Allen as he left when I was four, loved Chuck Knox and felt he was ever so close, John Robinson was amazing too, considering he was able to get Georgia to buy in at times and my favorite of all time is obviously eyes right, but if I had to pick someone from yesteryear I wasn't around to watch or read about, if would be Hamp Pool, he was the Mike Martz to Joe Stydahar.

I go back to Prothro. I was ten and Gabriel was from North Carolina and the curly horns were cool. Not a lot of Rams fans in WNC back then as opposed to now when there must be dozens.

Reading about Rams history, I've always been envious of the guys who actually got to see Waterfield, Van Brocklin, Fears, Hirsch, etc. The numbers they were putting up in the early fifties would still be outstanding today. By the way, next Monday will be the 69th anniversary of Van Brocklin's 554 yard game.

15 Tommy Prothro 1971–1972

Now there's a guy who should have been a GM instead of a coach. With the Rams, he drafted guys like Jack Youngblood, Isiah Robertson, Lawrence McCutcheon, Dave Elmendorf ... all mainstays of the Rams teams that won 7 straight NFC West titles. But Prothro himself never won much of anything with the Rams.

Then, with the Chargers, he drafts guys like Louie Kelcher, Fred Dean, Gary “Big Hands” Johnson, and John Jefferson – all mainstays of the late 70s/early 80s teams that were serious contenders and made it to a couple of AFC title games. But again, he never won anything with that team.
He could draft like a mutha, he just couldn’t coach.

Does anyone remember that crazy formation Prothro tried to use. I think he called the 0 formation. Had no qb

Yes, I remember, looked like 5 guys lined up in one set of hash marks and 6 guys 8 yards away
