I believe Kupp was brought back a little too early - lets not rush Talib coming back. Philadelphia at home would work - plenty of time to warm up for the playoffs.
I’m going to go with “apples to oranges” on that take

Tho it’s possible Kupp did return too early

Perhaps...but when I saw Kupp injure his knee I thought he was done for the year. When I heard he did not tear anything and could return - I thought he would be out 4 - 6 weeks. Instead he came back after just 2 weeks and his knee was not quite ready.

With him on the field everything changes in regards to coverages, defense played, their #1 WR being taken out the game. accountability, everything. Welcome back 21! Rams CB Talib: 'The season really starts right now'

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib is inching closer to a return to the field.
Sidelined for the past nine weeks following ankle surgery, Talib participated in a walkthrough on Monday after being designated to return from injured reserve.
"The season really starts right now, so if you plan on doing something, you should have about eight games left -- those last eight games you should be working harder than your first 11 games," said the 32-year-old Talib, who could return to the field on Sunday as the Rams (10-1) visit the Detroit Lions (4-7).
Los Angeles would secure a postseason berth and the NFC West title with a victory at Ford Field.
"I know he's feeling good and he's really pushed it," Rams coach Sean McVay said. "As far as if he's ready to go, those are things that as the week progresses, we'll figure that out."
A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Talib was acquired by the Rams in an offseason trade with the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
Talib made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons with Denver as well as with the New England Patriots in 2013. He played his first four-plus seasons with Tampa Bay after the Buccaneers drafted him No. 20 overall in 2008

Talib was already practicing as hard as he could without playing in games, and so now this is the next step. If the doctors see no added benefit in keeping him off the field for further healing, who am I to say "just another week to make me feel better, Mr. Talib!"

Keeping him out to make us feel better is useless, when the cost of it might be home field advantage as the #1 seed.

Impossible to know.
It seems suspect however, but, may or may not be related at all.

I dunno. I was the odd duck.

I babysat as a teenager. My favorite was this small for his age boy who was kinda hyper. He LOVED wrestling and we'd just play WWF (that's what it was back then) in between eating dinner and watching wrestling VHS tapes.

His mom got tickets to Wrestlemania, I think it was at the Forum in LA in 1985, iirc and both Rick Flair and Hulk Hogan were there. I didn't realize that the Nature Boy was that short. Surprised me. On TV they all look 10' tall!

Anyway, I've always loved kids. I had a moment at age 11 like in Big Fish. Time stopped during a Little League game and I just looked around. Saw all the dads coaching and moms in the snack bar and I thought, "yeah, that's what I want to be. I want to be a DAD when I grow up."

When my oldest son was little and the Super Bowl was a crappy game, I actually just spent the time playing with my infant son. Had a blast.

Wish I was a grandpa now so much, but NONE of my kids (four in total) are remotely interested in having kids. My mom was 18 when she had me and we had our oldest at 23 so she got to be a grandma at a very early age.

Maybe it's because I'm still a child, myself...

I'll be lucky if I see a grandkid before 60 at this rate... but I'll be grateful because my wife's best friend's mom had 5 kids... and she got NO grandkids out of the deal.

That has to suck.

John Johnson on Defensive Adjustments, Addition of Talib for Season’s Final Push

The Rams had the opportunity to punch their ticket from the couch during their Week 12 bye. But of course, the Seahawks beat the Panthers in Charlotte and the ‘NFC West Champions’ T-shirts will remain in boxes until a Rams victory, or Seahawks loss.

“No that doesn’t matter,” safety John Johnson told theRams.com following his team’s first walk-thru coming off the bye — saying Seattle preventing the Rams from clinching during the week off was no big deal.

“We have to control what we can control — we can’t look at the next man or hope that another team loses. We can control our own destiny.”

Johnson’s Rams will look to improve to 11-1 and win the division on their own terms on Sunday in Detroit. Ford Field may also be the stage for a healthy L.A. secondary — something Johnson hasn’t been a part of since Week 3 when veteran corner Aqib Talib injured his left ankle and was promptly placed on injured reserve.

On Monday, Talib was designated to return to football, but is yet to be activated to the Rams 53-man roster. Entering the final stretch of the regular season and almost certainly beyond, Johnson is well aware of what Talib will add to the defense.

“I think he will just put everyone at ease,” Johnson said. “He brings that swag to him, the knowledge of the game to him, and we came in with him, so it was kind of like we were missing something and him coming back will just be like a security blanket for us, I think.”

In his first three games as a Ram, Talib totalled nine tackles, two passes defensed, and one forced fumble.

Johnson specifically mentioned the 11-year veteran’s experience as a potential difference maker going forward.

“[H]e just knows what teams want to do, he’s played against every offensive coordinator in the league, or head coach, or some type of combo of all of them, Johnson said. “He just knows how teams want to attack us and just gives us little tips to combat it.”

The Rams’ defense has been attacked heavily through big plays in 2018 — in fact Johnson’s defense has given up 12 passing plays that have totalled at least 40 yards, which is the most in the NFL. Additionally, the Rams have allowed 46 passing plays totalling at least 20 yards — which trails only the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Rams have allowed a passing play of at least 40 yards in eight games this season. In L.A.’s only loss of the season Week 9 against the Saints, wide receiver Michael Thomas’ 72-yard touchdown reception sealed the deal in the Superdome.

According to Johnson, L.A.’s big-play problem has been identified and addressed during the club’s bye week, and will be a focus from Week 13 on. It’s also something Talib mentioned following his first walk-thru back on the field with his defense.

“Our emphasis coming in today was, ‘You have to limit the big plays,’” Johnson said on Monday. “Zero is what we are shooting for, but if you keep the big plays to a minimum I think everything else will fall into place.”

“Just experience, sharpen up our communication a little bit,” Talib said, sharing his thoughts on the difference he could make in his return. “I think we get our communication in order, we eliminate two, three big plays a game, it’ll make us that much better on defense.”

With or without Talib, Johnson and the defense will be provided their first chance to display improvement as the season rolls on this Sunday against the Lions and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The big play problem has been identified and addressed DURING THE BYE WEEK? Yeah, the problem was talibs absence. Seriously though, I don't understand why it took so long if what he is saying is correct.

We're still going to give up more big plays than a top defense should, sadly. Peters should improve, but he can still be had and some offenses are just gonna get him it's unavoidable. Same with Hill.

And our FS play sigh. Until Joyner figures out WTF he's doing teams are going to continue to easily isolate who they want to go after (between Peters & Hill).

But I'm still excited to see our defense next Sunday simply because we'll at least cover the top weapon on a good number of snaps. THAT is going to be an immense change.
