Fro it might take a while but once the emotions from the move go away I'm sure you'll come back with a good playoff push!

As for the team it was obviously time to release JL ( minimal loss with how our defense is ran), CL ( dude had a crazy ass paycheck for the return), and JC ( this was obviously a wise cut for his contract). JJ was always after the money and his loss will be minimal with McLeod being the biggest loss to me TBH but can be replaced.

Honestly Fro I see us( notice the 'us' part lol) trading up and picking up a QB we've analyzed to be a starting QB. Hell if we do this right there is a chance we can still trade or have a nice WR, CB, or Center fall into our laps in rounds 2 and 3. This is the year I feel we tie everything together to move forward and compete 3-6 years on end our division and the playoffs. Exciting asf right? Lol

Anyways good to see you around bro!
If you trade up atQB how do you fix the WR/TE position? That's the conundrum you guys are in. We got the ultra talented QB in Sam and never built anything around him. You cannot do that again.

Also I understand that you don't build teams in free agency, but you developed young DBs for other teams essentially. I understand not overpaying, but bad planning got you to the point of only being able to keep one. McDonald, Brockers are coming up. Smart move is to lock the up now. Got to keep most of the talent you built up. Now you have to hope that Gaines can recover from a foot injury that's hard to and that Joyner can bea good FS and that you find a good slot CB. It's going to be a rough start for the defense.

If we get a QB that only plays marginally better than Folds or Keenum or Pick 6 Davis that plays at a level of a David Carrs rookie year very similarly those WR and TE will be better with what we have. We don't need a pro bowl player at every position just a reliable one in certain situations as a role player while Gurley grinds them down.

I'd expect Brockers and Donald will be inked more than likely this year or Into the next. JJ wanted top tier money for a CB but wasn't a top tier CB. Donald is top tier so that's a different story.

The FO is doing a nice job and not digging the team in a hole sinking wasted money in players close to or past their prime.

It certainly wasn't from a lack of trying with Bradford. They signed and drafted tons of receivers. Never a great one, but tons of guys. Sims-Walker, Laurent Robinson, Mark Clayton, Brandon Lloyd, Danario Alexander, Amendola, Pettis, Salas, Gilyard, Gibson, blah blah blah blah blah blah. I wish they had just ONCE picked up a receiver who could dominate. That's the situation we're in again now, and I'm kind of sick of waiting on that guy. We're going through the same pattern all over again. Britt, Cook, Austin, Quick, Bailey, blah blah blah blah blah. Just get a damn receiver who's shown he can dominate already!

I get the argument for developing DBs for other teams, but consider where we were with Jenkins. If I had suggested going into the 2015 season that we should throw $62M at Jenkins and extend his contract for another 5 years, I would have been laughed off the board. He's a good corner, but he's not $62M good. He's about what the Rams thought he was. $45M over 5 years good. For all we know, Sensabaugh will benefit from the same coaching and scheme that Jenkins did, because he's every bit as athletic. The popular consensus around Rams park is that Gaines will be back and fine, so that's a good bet. The safeties can be developed around here rather easily it seems, so that's not a real big concern - at least not to me. Getting Quinn back will make everybody's job easier, and adding Coples & keeping Hayes will 100% mitigate losing Long. Laurinaitis was clearly declining, so that was kind of a no-brainer. Would have liked to see the Rams keep him on as a WIL, but I understand Fisher letting him go. And they let him go in time to find a good fit for himself, so that was cool.

Other than that, it's good to see you around again.
Now cut the shit and get back on board. I know you hate Stanley; but how cool we all are, collectively, should cancel him out.

I think I hate Kevin more than Stanely.

As far as the DB, Jenkins was always about the money. The move would have been to try to get something done long term with Johnson or McLeod in the offseason. They may have tried, I don't know. If you get one of them done, then you can tag Jenkins, unless you signed McLeod and wanted Johnson. They tagged the right CB. I think they should have done a better job not being in the situation where 3 hit free agency at once. They better get some of their guys locked up now that will be pending next year. Also you have to remember that the secondary was a weakness in 2014 and 2013. It took those guys time to develop.

I almost think you guys are better going all in on playmakers and hope you develop one, then get your QB. The Rams playmakers suck. Don't mean to sound too harsh, but they do.

Every team wants to draft a Derek Carr. It's easier said than done.

I love the "lock 'em up now" posts.
Assumes we didn't try, and assumes the player was amenable to it.

And who is this JC guy we lost to FA. Racking my brain and can't come up with it.

This used to be such a fun time of year for me nerding out on the draft and offseason. Thought I would give you guys a shout out and see how things are going.

I'm a little perplexed by your guys offseason. I understand that there is a salary cap, but I struggle to see how the team got better and it's difficult for me to see how the team will be much improved next year. I understand not overpaying for Jenkins and McLeod. I just don't understand allowing it to get to the point where three of your young starting DBs all hit free agency at once. That should have been addressed last offseason. Maybe they tried. I know they did with Jenkins, but he was always about the money. It appears they are going to try and beef up the offense through the draft, which is the right thing to do, it just takes time. I'm surprised no bridge offensive free agents were brought in. I think it's going to be another developmental year, but with the adrenaline playing in front of new jacked up fans, a 9-7 season is definitely possible.

I no longer have my finger too close to the pulse of this team, but it appears to me that Fisher's job is safe for the next three years until the stadium is built. Fisher was hired in 2012 because he had experience coaching a team during a relocation period. That experience comes into play over the next three years when the team is sort of like vagabonds. So if you hate Fisher ball I believe you have at minimum 3 more years to endure. I hope for your sake he can finally get an offense, but seeing how he is simply bringing back the same OC and QB that ended 2015, it's hard for to see enough improvement to make a difference. Plus you lose your defensive leaders in Long, McLeod, and Laurinaitis. If the year does suck, at least you will get to watch Donald and Guerly. Going to miss watching those guys.

Hope all is well with you guys and I miss talking football with you.
I'm "Perplexed" as to the reason you bothered with this post!!

Offseason hasn't been the same without all the Draftnics - miss you, fro.

We need to go all in for a QB - we aren't going anywhere without one.

You know what as well? Bradford made all those guys better. Guys like Quick, Givens, Gibson, Pettis - actually looked competent and put up some numbers with Bradford and never did so again without him and everyone was saying "oh he doesn't elevate anyone around him like a good QB does..."

On topic. Good to hear from you FRO! Post more often! You don't have to follow the Rams anymore to have an opinion.

Who you going to be watching this year? Da Bears?

Hello Fro....come back every once in a while as the bitterness lessens. I know I couldn't think about the Rams in 1995 when they ripped my heart out, but back then I had no idea what the internet was an no way to express my bitterness....Peace.
