I think the media is blowing it up bigger than what it is. She's from Philly and was invited to practice as a casual visit, hung out and kicked some some field goals, and the one they showed was a bomb though. Then afterwards, the media asks her if women can kick fgs, and of course shes going to say yes right, why would she say no? Now they're spinning this into an agenda thats bigger than what it initially was.

I saw those videos. Her leg appears strong enough, but I’d say leg strength is the one thing many people possess.

It’s the accuracy that comes from mechanics, the ability to repeat “everything” to a T over and over, and the mental ability to lock things out and concentrate.

So while her kick length was impressive, that’s the easy part.

Just my opinion.

This thread isn’t a bait right? A mans opinion of a woman possibly becoming the first NFL kicker. I think its cool she got to showcase skills that are comparable to a kicker in the NFL.

If the barrier is just being the first female to kick a field goal in an NFL game, she absolutely could do it. There were already women at the collegiate level and in women's professional football who are capable of kicking a 35 yard or longer field goal in the NFL. If someone is just going to go out just to be the first, I'd rather see one of them get that shot.

If the barrier is to be one of the top 32 kickers in the world and deserving of an NFL placekicking position, I don't think she's likely to achieve that level, even with a year or two of practice. That being said, if she wanted to put the time in and she got to the point where she could hit 40 yard field goals almost automatically against air, it would be great to give her a shot.

If a female kicker can handle getting hit by massive men every once in a while, then sure. We already have the half joke that kickers (male) are people too, and I don't think this promotes the idea that kickers are real football players. jmho.

Do it week in and week out without a running head start in all kinds of weather conditions, with 11 other big ass dudes trying to block it, then sure why not...

Many people that play soccer could do what she did in shorts and a t shirt. But put on pads and put players on the field and do it then we can talk. And this isn't directed just at her.

But, heck, I’d give her a shot in camp.
Of course, probably be crucified when the eventual cut happened.

I'd love to see her get a chance, because it's cool too have new and exciting things happen. I didn't watch the video, so I can't comment on her quality of kick. I also won't throw in a bunch of caveats to wanting to see her succeed. It would be cool.

I hate to say it, because I support a pure meritocracy, but sometimes the barriers need help to be broken. Not because of the incapability of the barred, but because of the mindset of the gatekeepers. But eventually it needs to balance back out into a pure meritocracy (or as close as we can get).

No women in NFL. They get pregnant and can't play and stuff. What if it's a playoff game and she's got PMS? Hell no!

Well for one she needed like 7 steps to kick the ball, so she's already not NFL ready.

Pretty much every NFL kicker can make 60+ yard field goals in practice. And that’s without the 3 extra steps. I’m sure she could do it. But if she’s going to break the barrier, it needs to be because she’s one of the top 32 kickers in the league. Not because she’s a woman.

Don't get me wrong. I like her and think if she is serious and trains with a legitimate trainer she could do it. But stop and think about her mechanics. That long run-up won't work in the NFL. Those kicks will be fumbles and she will never get them off. Also, they didn't show her misses, it's assumed she had one try and made it. But she missed her earlier attempt or attempts. She would need to learn how to do that with a two-step approach and she won't have the leg momentum off a long run-up.

Just saying it's more complicated than just being the first female to break into the NFL. There are other women and girls that already or have already kicked NFL style but none of them are being called. That's the part I find insulting. They already do it and no one cares. So yeah it's all overblown. I will stay with Greg the Leg.

Would opposing defenses then be expected to pull up on their rush at her? Can you imagine being the poor sucker who breaks the leg of a female Kicker? The media backlash from that would be twice as bad as the inflammatory media hype over her playing in the first place. Plus, as has been mentioned, she took a Charlie Brown length run up to that kick. Nothing to see here.....
