On the one hand:
USC used to be called Tailback-U. Now they seem to be working on earning the title of Train Wreck-U.
On the other hand:
Yeah, Swanny initially denied permission for KK to talk to NFL teams. But it didn't make sense to me that USC signed
two 4-star tight end recruits. Maybe it's my misconception, but to my knowledge, KK offenses are not good for TEs and 4-star TEs don't exactly grow on trees. Seemed . . . odd.
Talk, and it seems more likely to me, is that Swanny relented and let KK interview rather than force KK to buy himself out/resign. In other words, Jay Glazer's speculation is probably wrong. BTW, it's an odd new NFL rule, enforced at the NFL level, that requires teams to get permission from the College before interviewing.
I wonder how much of a panic hiring this was by the Cards. I think McD and another candidate declined to be interviewed by the Cards. I wonder if the Cards got scared that they might have to go dumpster diving (well, more so than KK), for a new coach.
Failing up faster . . . the Lane Kiffin way.
I haven't seen any ideas for a veteran DC coaching presence. I think Spags would be neat back in the division.
Josh Rosen got a UofA sorority girl in his hot tub back in college. Just wait for KK to show him how to really get AZ women into a hot tub. Coach mentoring a player is what it's all about, right?
Edit:
Football-wise, unless there's some strong assistant coaching hires, I don't see much of a Cards threat in the future.
