Capturing video? Making GIFS

Can anyone give me some brief tutorial tips, maybe applications or programs you use. . .

I pay to have gamepass and I do watch a lot of game film. I'd love to learn how to start capturing things and being able to share them.

I know how to do screen shots. . . so maybe I'll start there and see what I can come up with. . .

I use WM Capture 8 to capture video - pretty straight-forward to use.
Then I use AVS Video Editor to piece stuff together, but there are other video editors out there.

I use Photoshop to edit gifs, here are instructions on converting video files to gifs (applicable to Photoshop CS3 or later)
