OTC currently shows the Rams at 15.6M of cap room for 24', and 40M for 25'.

The caveat for next year is it only has 45 players under contract with all the cuts yesterday. So in 25' the effective cap space would currently be projected at approx 34M. (7 additonal 900k salaries added for end of year additions).

Now these numbers will likley be lowered after some in season additions, incentives paid out, etc... However, they will have around $40-44M to spend next year. And it could be more than that if say Havenstein or Kupp retire. Kupp save's $15M with a post June retirement (what they did with Donald) and Havenstein saves $8M

So to summarize, they can be very active next year and it's why I said they will not get any comp picks in 26'. They only had 3 guys worthy of comp pick contracts, Jones, Tutu, and BB. Maybe Garrapolo as well. The Rams would have brought in more players to offsett those 4 potential losses.

Last draft (and UDFA) plus what this draft appears to be (and UDFA) have REALLY set this team up.
I wonder what different scenarios they have mapped out.

Plenty of money and future draft picks to make a play at trade deadline too if someone intriguing becomes available. Les will be hunting the next few months for talented cast offs.

That should cover a trade deadline addition and a small bonus to AD for joining the title run.

It gives them flexibility that if a star player like Kupp were to retire, they could go out and get another top WR next year or maybe add a high level vet CB or DL in FA or at the trade deadline this year.

Yup, Jourdan even mentioned that Rams probably wouldn't be as concerned about comp picks next few years (last year) due to cap space avail.

I've been contemplating a big trade deadline move this year. With recent drafts, the role players are set; they don't have many needs. They have set themselves up well if they want to take some bigger swings on impact players.

But which position would make a huge difference?

A CB, and any position that loses a key player to injury.

For instance, if a 26 yr old Jalen Ramsey were to become available this year, it would be an example of the type player they could go after.

Now that involved 1st rd picks...they might not do that since a young QB is in need at some point.

However, CB, OT, and any position that experiences an injury would be a reason to go get a top guy. This is where losing the 25' 2nd rd pick hurts in terms if a trade is possible for a real frontline star.

Assuming White and Williams are both healthy, would a CB really move the needle much? Who would sit?
Big IF's.... and yeah, it could be a case where, like Ramsey was, a guy you go get not just for this year, but for the next 3 yrs.

White is only here a year and Williams probably only two so if a Ramsey type showed up on trade block it would certainly be my first choice. Can never have enough CBs. Other than that maybe a stud ILB'er but as we know we don't like spending money there so a trade wouldn't be worth it if they needed a new contract. A lot will depend on our injuries in a couple months and how our super bowl aspirations are looking still.

Just threw that as a possibility if he has an injury plagued year or if the Rams won it all... who know?? Anything can happen with a 32 yr old WR.

Now I'll say this, if he has a really down year or injury plague, I still don't think he'll retire but I could see him getting moved by the Rams.

OTC and Spotrac, which NEVER agree, both currently have the Rams with $7.2M of salary cap space.

Not in the mood to do a deep dive, and try to understand it ...
Just watched the Rams mid-week media conference, with DC Shula, OC LaFleur, offensive stud Kyren Williams and suddenly very important defensive starter Troy Reeder who seems like a great guy but ... Damn It!

I'm NOT Crazy!!! Honest!!!

Seriously, couple hours ago OTC had it at $7.185M. Not sure why it changed, or which # is correct.
Hope it is the $15.6M!

Spotrac still has the lower amount ...
