I doesn't matter what laws the state has. What I quoted is FCC and the law is Federal so it trumps all state and local laws.

I must not have communicated this clearly.

An HOA can not deny you the right to have a dish, but they can control where you install it on your home.

Most, if not all, States have codes on how HOAs operate. In California an HOA is a Corporation. So there is a Corporation code just for HOAs. Codes can be legally enforced.

Great explanation and insight here.

Our property manager is is a buffoon. His 1st tactic is to try and threaten... if that doesn't work he goes straight to lying. He freaked up with those tactics when he tried them on me... he now kisses my ass to the point that it is annoying. I had to call this clown's employer to let them know what this idiot was up to. These management companies don't do a lot of checking on their people I've discovered. Once I got ahold of a real decision maker at the management company... our clown got his crap together a little more... at least with me anyway. Other folks just don't question their authority though... or just simply do everything possible to avoid confrontation. Those are the people these boards and management companies pray on.

While I was active on our Board I joined some forums and quickly found out that most all the problems an HOA has is the manager. I still call our Board and management "The Clown Car". Managers want the passive people on the Board. Easier for them to control as you pointed out. If you challenge the Board or ESPECIALLY the manager you become a "problem" in their eyes.

What I know today I would move into another HOA. I just know better now on how to handle these Clowns. :D

When I bought my new house in Ladera Ranch, the HOA said the sidewalk on the side of my house, submitted at "30 inches" wide, could only be "12 inches". I had to go to their office and scream at them til they finally backed off it. I yelled, "12 inches; the wheels on my trash cans are farther apart then that. How am I supposed to wheel out my trash?" Took them about an hour to comprehend that. I hate, with a passion, the HOA!

Salassie they can't control where you install it. I got the optimum reception on the front of my house (which I loved) so there it went and there it stayed for 15 yrs. Read the law, if there is only one place you get good reception, and it's not in their "approved" zone that's too bad for them. They simply can't impede or otherwise stop you. All I needed was a letter from the installer that it was the best place for reception.

They just have a god complex. I only recognize one god and they aren't him.

Reddit streams posts links to every game, multiple links in case some don’t work. The links don’t work until game time though...should work for pre-season if the games are televised.

Otherwise the last two years I’ve used www.ripple.is the quality is amazing, they’ve gotten more ads though. You can even stream any pay-per-view events or anything there too

The reason I use my Xbox is so I can watch the games in my big 65” TV, otherwise you have to watch it from the phone, tablet or laptop.

I've been using reddit for the past year. Good quality. These streaming sites have come a long way from the old days of choppy pictures and 20 minutes behind real time. I had had the same game on the laptop and the TV to see how much lag there was. The laptop was 15 seconds behind real time. I can live with that. I watch Dodger games any time I want. Laker games too. So far reddit has been the best stream for me. They have several stream options for each game.

Yep, and sure as heck beats the hundreds of dollars I was shelling out a year to watch the rams... the steaming sites have absolutely come a long way, especially now with HD. The quality used to be horrendous and way behind like you said

I just got it through the student offer. I'll use the log in on ROKU. Been paying $300 for years and splitting the max with a friend of mine. He has the DTV and I'd use his password online. Great Live HD broadcast and no lag. This year I was thinking that I do Community college CE hours at work, so I tried my college email to sign up. $99! Best part was I saw a savings code and knocked it down to $79! Tax total was $84 I think. So happy I tried it. So if you have a good friend that has anyone in school
(kids maybe).... just go through them. All you need is a .edu email and some paper that has the name and school on it. Then you can use his/her log in. I imagine it has to be a close friend or family member... good luck.

Been using this myself for the last 3 years. The quality has come up greatly. Matter of fact, last you couldn't tell the difference in picture quality from the broadcast. The only downside is the time delay. But that only matters if you are on forum link trying to keep up with the talk.

I tried that last year and they said nope. Did not even offer me a lower rate. They turned it off and I just had it turned on a week or so later..ha. Is there anything in particular you say to them?

Don’t even ask about the Sunday ticket. Just say you want to cancel your directv service and they will send you to the people who are actually authorized to offer you stuff. More than likely they will see that you’ve had it in the past and offer it up. Never had the retention people not offer it when threatening to cancel. I guess worst case scenario if you care about keeping dtv at all cost they should at least offer you better rates for a contract.

I just call up and say I want to cancel my service, they pull up my account (I've been with them for 15 years or so) and ask if there is a reason why. I just say its too expensive and I see other offers for lower monthly. Usually they put me on hold and look up my account and tell me I can save $$ if I cancel the ticket and Showtime/Starz. After a no shidt comment, they put me on hold again and come back with some sort of offer which invariably gives me the ticket for free and an additional discount. They also offer me a total system upgrade for free but requires a 2 year contract which I refuse.
So maybe I've just been lucky, just got the right person. Truth be known, I think its a fair price for the product and I don't mind paying for it. But since they seem so liberal with the pricing rebates, I don't see why not trying. Of course money is real tight this year and without a big discount, I wont be able to pay the freight...
Fingers crossed

You can also go direct to the NFL and stream games 15 minutes after they end. $100
How long are the games there? I prefer to DVR and watch a few hours later or even the next day. Last year was the first year I did not have Sunday Ticket and any game not on my local channels I used reddit. Worked well just had to watch Live. Most Sundays I had a required 3 hr union break, at least that is what the wife thought. lol.

You have several options. You can't watch the whole game without commercials and all, just the game with all the time or just the plays. Or, you can watch the coach's film of the game. If you watch just the plays you can watch a game in about 30-40 minutes.

We are giving Sling TV a month trial and I also got CBS All Access. I am currently waiting for 2 indoor HD TV antennas to get my locals. I am going to give the reddit/r/nflstreams a try. We have Charter cable internet, so I hope that along with my XBOX ONE gives me good chances of watching the games. I am so tired of DirecTV and their strong arm tactics to keep people at exorbitant prices. I have had them since '97 ... and i never get "deals". My price just keeps going up. i have tried retention 3 times and every time they say "no". Had the local DTV technician here to fix something a week ago. And even he said that he doubts he has a job more than 4-5 yrs. Says everyone is leaving them for YouTube TV, Sling, Hulu, etc.

Yeah DTV gave me the finger every time I tried to get the Sunday Ticket thrown in for no charge. Only time they offered it was after I signed up with cable. F'them.

Actually, they can only control it for safety reasons.(or historical) And they are responsible for proving the restrictions are necessary.
