It's available on DirectTVNow app

Again, only if you are unable to get a dish because you're in restricted area, an apartment, condo, etc. If you are able to put a dish on your house you can only get sunday ticket with a satelite sub. Unless they've changed it but i can't find any evidence of that.

If you have any sort of smart device with a browser you can watch the games for free, I go through my Xbox, and go to the browser and go to the stream and watch the games like that... it’s awesome and HD

https://www.reddit.com/r/nflstreams/

Reddit streams posts links to every game, multiple links in case some don’t work. The links don’t work until game time though...should work for pre-season if the games are televised.

Otherwise the last two years I’ve used www.ripple.is the quality is amazing, they’ve gotten more ads though. You can even stream any pay-per-view events or anything there too

The reason I use my Xbox is so I can watch the games in my big 65” TV, otherwise you have to watch it from the phone, tablet or laptop.

No it’s a website based out of Iceland, so it hasn’t been shut down.... it used to be a lot easier to use with no adds, it’s a little more of a pain to use now but still works and has amazing quality, just gotta deal with some crap adds and takes a couple minutes.

The reddit streams is really good though, try it out when one of the preseason games start for any team and see how you like it, same for ripple.

To use ripple just type in the tram name in the search bar in the corner around game time and it will give you a link to click

I pull the game up on my laptop and use an HDMI cable to play it through my TV. Works great.

Selassie I used to have an HOA that tried to force me to remove my DTV dish. I threatened to sue them and showed why they cannot deny me or anyone else.

This is what the FCC says:
With passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, your local HOA is prohibited from enforcing local laws banning, or even delaying mounting of, a satellite dish that is less than 39 inches (1 meter) in diameter.

When they consulted their lawyer they backed down fast. The suit would be in federal court and they knew they would lose.

Yep, done that as well, noticed the quality goes down a bit going from a small screen to a big screen though. That’s the only reason i usually go through my Xbox

This is good to know. I have had to bitch slap my HOA multiple times through the years, so knowing this may lead to another beat down for them.

I gotta say though... I think I prefer my set up without DirecTV. Here in FL it rains almost every day. My friends are always bitching about losing their signal during rain. Especially during sporting events. I don't have that problem with my hardwired cable provider or the steaming I receive from DirecTV. I don't want to screw up a good thing... I don't want DirecTV. LOL

What is it with HOAs and restrictive covenants? I've been here for over 25 years so you would think they would give up by now.;)

I've spent hours with my real estate attorney learning about the stupidity of HOAs... because of mine of course... but I've learned that some HOAs are worse than nightmares. So I remind myself that it could always be WAY worse.

The biggest problem I have learned is that most of the people who serve on the HOA boards aren't even qualified to make basic decisions in their own home, much less make decisions for a whole community. Many of the people who strive to get themselves on these boards are the most socially dysfunctional people on the planet... and they've never made decisions on a professional level in their lives. It's beyond crazy.

We have one lady who serves on our board who is so unqualified and STUPID... I decided that I was going to run against her and serve on the board myself. That's when my attorney explained that it didn't work that way. What happens here is you don't run against anyone in particular... you just run to get on the board. The top vote getters are the winners, and then they decide on the position they will serve together. My fear was that I would have to serve on the board with this idiot and that fear was enough for me to give up on that idea. I'm not the kid of guy who is able to keep my mouth shut when stupidly is being used. It would have gotten very ugly if I was to try and operate in that kind of environment. Soooo... I have put that thought on the back burner for now.

My HOA does have another way that i think they may still be able to enforce not allowing the dishes to be attached to the outside of our homes... but the bottom line is... if you just get on the board you can change the stupid rules. I just don't have the time to jump into the insanity right now.

I think the HOA is attractive to the type of person who wants to either get immersed within a community fast or push an agenda or simply serve. What makes it difficult is if the community has a constant turnover that gets new people from outside the region who want to make their new neighborhood just like their old neighborhood. When you add carpetbaggers to the mix it gets even worse. Hang in there.

I was talked into being on our board so as to keep someone off the board. That should have told me something. I ended up being on a HOA board before living in the neighborhood. We were building a house. Spent four years on the board and would recommend to any friend that if they want to keep their sanity, and their high hopes for humanity, never serve on an HOA board. Good lord. Plenty of crazy on both sides. HOAs I learned through other forums are inherently dysfunctional. The key is your property manager. Most all try to steer the HOA in the direction they believe is best for their company. They generally don't care about a neighborhood they don't live in. And honestly, its understandable. The less work they put in, the more profit they make.

As for the dishes, each state has its own rules or laws governing HOAs. I found the ones i have reviewed are basically the same but there can be differences. In California you can not refuse an application for the placement of the dish (per the above FCC ruling). But an HOA can review where it is placed for aesthetic considerations. Therefore the application being submitted.

After being on our board we had some major battles with the HOA. They leave us alone now. They discovered we know the laws and rules better than they do. That is another issue about board members, they do not know the rules. They rely on the property manager and if gets to a legal point hire the attorney to have them fight what they "want". Rules aside. Like I said, inherently dysfunctional.

I doesn't matter what laws the state has. What I quoted is FCC and the law is Federal so it trumps all state and local laws.

The problem is there are too many HOA Nazi types who let power go to their heads. One guy used to snoop around looking through garage windows to cite people with "unsightly garages". I had enough so I moved my dish from he side to right smack in front and posted a sign with the complete un-edited version of the law on my front lawn.

I got dozens of nasty grams and ignored each and every one. When I first moved to La Costa / Carlsbad the neighbors I had were rabbits, rattlesnakes and a lone cougar who was handy as he ate the coyotes running around. My neighbors hated me LOL because I was long haired and did my own lawns and landscaping.

I remember when I was re-doing the front landscaping, a couple of friends and I were taking a beer break sitting in the bed of my Silverado parked in my drive way. My neighbor of 7 years was pulling into his home across the street. He called out to us "Hey Boys when you get a moment come over here and give me an estimate". I stood up and yelled back "Hey Mofo (sanitized for his post) you can't afford me A....Hole. Get off your fat ass and do it yourself". So the guy goes inside and calls the cops. LOL The cops roll up and ask what's going on. I told them and they just laughed and shook their heads and left. The guy moved in almost 4 years after me and lived across the street all those years and didn't know it. Because I wasn't Caucasian like all of my neighbors I was invisible to them. They all knew my now ex-wife because she was attractive, blonde and German. She still lives there and still has nothing to do with the neighbors.

HOA Nazi's count on residents being cowed, or too busy, or apathetic, and they love their school yard bully tactics. They don't take kindly to those that challenge them no matter how nicely or rationally you do it. I learned quickly just come out swinging and hit them over the head with my bat. I have never walked softly, but where I grew up you always carried a big stick.

Great explanation and insight here.

Our property manager is is a buffoon. His 1st tactic is to try and threaten... if that doesn't work he goes straight to lying. He fucked up with those tactics when he tried them on me... he now kisses my ass to the point that it is annoying. I had to call this clown's employer to let them know what this idiot was up to. These management companies don't do a lot of checking on their people I've discovered. Once I got ahold of a real decision maker at the management company... our clown got his shit together a little more... at least with me anyway. Other folks just don't question their authority though... or just simply do everything possible to avoid confrontation. Those are the people these boards and management companies pray on.
