Boom not gonna be on the 2020 roster, So Ram?

You’ve got breaking news here for us? Got a link? Lol.

I'm guessing speculation on the injury, but we will see?

Word is that Noteboom is on track to return. Their lack of interest in drafting a successor to Whit is the evidence that they are using Whit as a bridge player until Joe can get back 100% not just from his injury but into playing shape. The lack of offseason programs has really retarded his return. Whit is signed for 2 years which makes sense if they are going to continue with their original o-line plans. I see nothing at all to suggest that they won't. Their lack of interest in spending draft capital would seem to validate that position.

With Whitworth signed through 2021 and Havenstein likely to be released next year, I would expect Noteboom to replace Rob at RT for a year before moving over to LT. Looking at their lack of draft interest and how they have restructured Whit's and Rob's contracts this is what I would expect them to do.

McVay is on record as saying Boom should be available for camp practices. He said that months ago, btw.

Unless you’ve got something solid saying otherwise, I think I’ll take McVay at his word for now.

I still like Noteboom to backup Whit, with Brewer being a swing G/T too and I might trust him more then Evans at LT, but IMO, Evans showed enough at RT to offer upside. If Noteboom is recovered, he is more of a Tackle then Guard and played much better at that position. Demby is toast, unless Brian Allen showcases anything, the Rams might be better off with Shelton or Trewyn, however, if there is any preseason play I expect to see quite a bit of Chandler Brewer.

Agree with Brewer at LT only because he held that spot in 2019. Evans though was the backup RT.
Evans imo is better on the Let side?? Big Rob is RT/RG ??

I still have not been answered the question of David Edwards & Bobby Evans from anyone on the site.

Both players came out there jr. Yrs.

David Edwards is 23
Bobby Evans 23

IMHO both would have been top 50 picks. I keep saying what Oklahoma would have been unstoppable.

David Edwards would have been a top tackle. I still wonder if he might be a NFL OT. The Rams have Brewer listed as a Guard, while Edwards is listed as a Tackle ?? Why is that ??
Evans is a key guy to watch no doubt. His film was worse than I remembered it when I went back and rewatched 2019, but I don't blame the guy too much there most of these players need time to transition to this level. The bigger question is whether he's a potential factor at LG.

IMO he's a bit like Boom, not quite as finesse as Boom is but similar in that both need to get a lot stronger if they want to start on the interior. So I don't expect him to push Corbett at LG. I feel like there will be a secret LT competition going on behind the scenes with Evans & Boom both in that particular running.

LG is going to be Corbett vs Brewer and Anchrum. So it will be our biggest camp competition on the line followed by C where Allen will get a chance to unseat Blythe.

well said - I don’t know how it will all play out ?? The truth is Kromer needs to Coach this group up,but the talent is there for success.

Bobby Evans was not the best, but he learned so much in 2019. He needs to contain his blocks better, but he understands the concepts.

Big Rob Havenstien has to redeem himself in 2020.

I’ve said from December that this group is going to be solid knowing
Whitworth wanted(was) coming back
& Blythe being a hopeful wild card.

Going into 2019 The Rams were in a lot worst situation. Drafting Evans & Edwards were steals. The lack of experience was the biggest issue & if they could be okay once the lights went on.

Brewer showed up in the Preseason Huge.Against Arizona the last game playing RT was scary. Evans is by far the better player at this point.

Far enough. I still question it & think Mcvay was wishfully thinking. I’m going by Whitworth’s contract & Noteboom interview about his health.

Where is your update.Mcvay talked about TODD GURLEY being 100%,later the truth is the truth.

I think it would be nice if The Rams . Com would do anything to update The Ram Fans then to be on the record a little more clear. I believe Mcvay did not use Notebooms name directly??

Here is an article, so will see. I still believe he has an up hill battle to get ready. I hope your right & he plays at a All Pro Level.

If he is 100% that could Shake Up the Whole rotation on how it looks. The Joseph Noteboom of the beginning of 2019 will be a starter.

My thinking has always been 2020 O”Line has a lot of depth. If this is the case The Rams depth chart is that much stronger.

Just read the article and as of Jan 2020 he says he has to get quad strengthened & figure out Walking.

He needed eight weeks before surgery. That put him Mid/end March & still no surgery ??

WTF ?? To me that is scary. I don’t need to know much more than that to think he will be on the PUP list.Xrazy to risk him & Whitworth’s contract tells me The Rams(Mcvay) have doubts about Notebooms health.

No Breaking News - trying to use common sense & no coach Speak.

I was happy to see this but I look at this statement in light general terms....... How much Noteboom will be able to do in the many diverse practice type programs is the big question for me.

I fully expect Noteboom to wear that special red flashing lights & sirens colored jersey (no contact) for long time in TC. Rams is sure to have "Handle With Care" stamp on Noteboom.I will be highly surprised if Noteboom will get the green light to be involved in FULL OL unit required practices that Noteboom is badly in need of. I expect to see OT's Whitworth & Noteboom being held out of most of the high intensity hard contact drills. So who will be getting the LT snap with team #1? Evans or Brewer?

My thoughts here on Noteboom is its vital that he be our starting 2021 left OT. Its not vital that he be ready early in 2020. Rams paid a great deal to retain past his prime & past NFL retirement age LT Andrew Whitworth to give Kromer viable options @ the critical blind side LT post in 2020. Having Whitworth present on the sidelines in stand bye position with Noteboom (if he is unable to go @ the initial starting of the regular season) is a excellent insurance policy IMO.

IMO Its no big deal if Kromer has to mainly utilize a healthy young duo dose @ LT of 2nd season OL'ers Bobby Evans & Chandler Brewer sprinkled in lightly with Whitworth throughout TC & pre-season. The real big deal is growing Noteboom to be ready for a full go by the middle of this upcoming season.

"OL Chandler Brewer put forth a valiant effort in 2018, playing out the season at Middle Tennessee after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He still played at a high level, earning first-team All-Conference USA honors last season. He looked good at left tackle in the preseason and has a future in the NFL".

Brewer looks like a future started to me. How Denby got the nod as first man off the bench is a mystery. Brewer came in and instantly looked like he could start of need be. Denby, not so much.

I'd cut bait on Allen and I bet Brewer has a better career than Noteboom.

When Jamil Demby got his name called by Kromer to replace the injured Austin Blythe @ RG during the Saints game early 2nd half of Chandler Brewer was on the sideline in street clothes as a Practice Squad member. When Demby was anointed starter for the Browns game wk #3 @ RG, once again Brewer was still in street clothes as a PS member. Demby's Brown game performance was a disaster & a Ram loss. The following wk Blythe looked like he needed a wheelchair to get into the huddle as he started wk#4 against the Bucs. In truth, Blythe most likely should have not played as injured as he was in that Ram loss.

By wk#6 Demby remained the top reserve for Kromer. When starting LG Noteboom destroyed his knee early against the 9ers....its was Demby to the rescue that helped the Rams in that loss. Demby's performance was just as good as it was against the Browns. Demby never suited up again for Kromer in 2019 but Demby still was on the master roster while Brewer was in still on the PS.

Kromer promoted rookie 5th rd draft pick David Edwards to replace Noteboom as starter over Demby for wk#7 against the Falcons in a very big win. It was OG/OC Coleman Shelton who then suited up & continued to do so from that point on over Demby as the main top reserve that game. By this time Snead was busy trying to make the trade for LG Austin Corbett. Brewer remained on the PS.

Wk#10 Rams lost 2 starting OL'ers to knee injuries OC Allen & RT Havenstein... neither played again in 2019. Rams went into the wk#9 game with newly acquired Corbett & Shelton dressed as the only two reserves. #8 OL'er Evans & #9 OL'er Demby did not dress for that game. Brewer remained on the PS.

The big changes with Kromer came after wk #10 poor OL performance. Austin Blythe was inserted to starting OC from RG to replace the injured Allen. LG David Edwards was flipped from starting LG into Blythe's starting RG post. #7 reserve Austin Corbett was promoted to starting LG in place of RG Edwards. Bobby Evans Previously in street clothes during #10 loss was promoted to starting RT.

It was during this week the Rams reformulated their 2019 OL with 4 out of the 5 starters in new positions. Oh by the way.... Snead promoted OT/OG Chandler Brewer to the roster & signed him up for the 2019/2020 seasons. Interior OL Nate Trewyn was signed to replace Chandler Brewer on the PS. Snead did make a big mistake here he should have signed Brewer to longer term contract.

Kromer rode Brewer & Shelton for the rest of the season as his only dressed active reserve OL'ers. Both saw snaps with the offense @ times. Brewer gave breaks to LT Whitworth & RT Evans for very short periods of time in the lineup. Shelton was the interior short period reserve.

I don’t recall Whitworth going down & Brewer taking his place ??

I do recall the last game against Arizona & Evans was playing hurt.
Brewer was not ready & I quoted you then that Goff might have got hurt if it would have been another series.

Good stuff. Demby though does have that experience & you never know how he took lossing his job as a backup. He is still young & has more upside than he ever has. I think he will be a journey OLman ??

I think you miss my point. When Brewer finally became a steady backup, he looked to be miles ahead of Demby. Despite Demby mainly backing up on the interior, and Brewer at both tackle spots, I think Brewer could have done a better job at any position than Demby. Brewer has always looked capable and affective, where Dembyy liked incapable and damn near listless.

Maybe Brewer was not healthy? But Demby was so bad that he didn't even look like a good college player. If not Brewer replacing him sooner then it should have been Edwards. Online mismanagement last season was a debacle early on.

From all that I can read on Demby is he is a really great guy who is well liked by his fellow Ram players. I am sure that due to his nature, all wanted him to have a good chance to succeed. Big problem was he could not deliver even after being here as a Ram for two training camps & two preseasons.

Reference your comments above on Brewer being "not ready" when he took snaps @ right OT for Evans with the offense. However, one would view those small amount of 2019 wk #17 offensive snaps @ right OT...should be taken under consideration that Brewer had been consumed with LEFT OT training & preparedness not RT. I will not throw too many negatives on Brewer's short cameo appearance @ RT in the last game of 2019.

My thoughts & understanding on Brewer's role over the later half of 2019 would have not prepared him with much practice snaps @ right OT during the time (7 wk's) on the active roster. Brewer played primarily LT in preseason. Plus he also played primarily more Left OG than RG/RT. By wk #11 when activated to the roster it was evident that RT Hav was done for the season with pain in his knee.

Evans must have been taking snaps behind Hav in all those previous practices leaving Brewer who was on PS taking practice snaps @ LT. Even after Evans took over as starter @ RT wk#11. Who else but Brewer would be filling in for the hurting Whitworth throughout the weeks of practices. How many snaps @ RT would Brewer have time for in these regulated short practices?

You are correct Andrew Whitworth did not go down for any period of time & I did not say that......however LT Whitworth has stated he was experiencing ankle pain issues as the 2019 season continued. In addition, Whitworth did take a few snaps off from time to time over the last half of the season when Brewer was his designated back up.

View: https://twitter.com/Rich_Hammond/status/1214710046950486016
As you should recall Andrew Whitworth made an early decision to undergo ankle surgery after the end of the 2019 season. He said this was done, so he would have the option to continuing playing in the NFL in 2020. I see our LT's health more key than ever for the Rams' offense especially during the first half of 2020 season.

Rams Org. has gone to great lengths in previous seasonal plans to maintain AW in order, so he can be as injury free, strong, fresh & energized as possible to start each week. I say the Rams previous plans have been effective to prolonging his playing effectiveness. I would conclude 2019 plan will be turned up dramatically & increased measures implemented for the upcoming 2020 AW plan. Thus far the plans have AW setting out most week long practices, particularly the physical demanding drills. However, none of these plans have AW taking time away during actual game day snaps. We might see some of this season & more & more as the season moves forward so AW will be ready for post season participation.

There is good reason for all the above. Lingering out there is determination of physical status for Noteboom @ beginning of camp. Think Rams are antsy about the damaged & recently reconstructed Joseph Noteboom {2020 model edition} to see if its working appropriately.

I am also sure all of us are waiting on the camp reports from the Rams team on early training camp trial runs to see if he is capable of the physical demands on that knee. No doubts it's critical to get going ASAP on retraining of Noteboom's physical parts with the intellectual parts on playing left OT again & deleting the past seasons worth of OG training.

I hope not. I believe I understand your point & agree fully.

Your last sentence above is directly on target as one of the main issues that gave us the 2019 ending results. How could our OL coaches (Kromer/Dickerson) & the other Offensive coaches not have been fully aware of the absence of skill & talent of Demby along with the shortcomings of other depended on OL'ers going into the season?

As you brought out ...there was a very good possibility Elmgrovegnome that young rookie Chandler Brewer might have been significantly atrophied in his muscular tissue after undergoing the past years' cancer treatment early 2019. Thus resulted in him not making the master roster over Demby at first.

I must remind myself the Rams had just drafted two OT's Evans & Edwards plus had their 2018 top drafted OT starting @ LG. So another 6-6-320 pound OT Brewer was just not needed at that time. The obvious concerns then were @ OG. Demby had been utilized by Kromer in 2018 season primarily @ the OG positions in TC & preseason. When Demby was resigned it was once again for back up @ OG.

So our initial top 3 OG's in 2019 (Noteboom/ Blythe & Demby) are no longer slotted to play there again in 2020. So this new season Rams have furbished up their 2020 OG unit with a good size amount of interior OL'ers (Edwards/ Corbett/ Anchrum/ Kolone/ Cabral/ Shelton / Trewyn & maybe even Brewer).

Right now I’ll just wait and see how things workout for 2020. I just like the Depth & have said so since the end of 2019.
Whitworth,Hav,Blythe,& Allen all were rehabbing together. I think there relationships are solid, and I think Kromer is good at Cross-Teaining. I have no idea how things will totally play out. Really don’t think Anchorman makes the squad.

I am glad they are rehabbing together & I am sure they all have excellent solid relationships.

That's great, but I prefer that Whitworth- Havenstein- Blythe & Allen can manage together to produce a far better OL than #31 ranked NFL OL, like last season.

Reference all that Kromer "cross-training" praise ...................I say enough already having OL'ers playing every known position known to modern NFL. I have grown tired of so much Ol musical chair songs. There is just not much time in today's NFL anymore for the needed practices & the Ol needs more than the other units.

NFL practice times keep getting shorter as time moves on. Very good chance practice times get shorter in the future & they were short to begin with. You better use your few seconds a practice to find your best 3 OT's best 3 OG's & best 2 OC's & get your one master versatile multi OL (OC/OG/OT) as your #9 OL'er. Get that OL set ASAP & go with it.

Next plan to send your best three versatile OL'ers in the new enlarged practice squad instead! OL'ers experience so many injuries each season lets be better prepared on this OL, so we can go get that SB win this season!

Snead only has four draft picks in 2021. I do not see Snead wasting an invaluable hard to find 2020 draft selection on player {Tremayne Anchrum} who the Rams do not think can be contracted to fill a future needed role in the organization, either on the Rams' player roster or the Rams practice squad. I expect you will have a surprise :partyhorn:coming your way this TC & preseason on the subject of Ol'er Anchrum.

Keep on your HIGH HoRSE Bonified.Maybe a 12oz Corona is in order since finding it on Fap in Florida
doesn’t exist.

I’m not going to get to excited over the 2020’ Offensive Line ,but will enjoy watching there growth & Whitworth being a solid Mentor.

I keep hope there is a chance The Rams get to & win the SuperBowl. Really don’t think they have much of a chance, and think it would be nice if there is a 2020’NFL season.

I like The Kromers & Andy Dickerson.Believe they do a solid job in teaching. They have a good handle on things & Trust.

I was never a Austin Blythe starting at OG only as a backup. He gets over powered there. Brian Allen never understood McKromer‘s love ??
