My understanding is that the 1st team OL was Humphries LT, Avila LG, Shelton C, Dotson RG, and McClendon RT. Limmer won't be learning next to Shelton.I'm thinking that having Limmer next to Shelton could be a great way for him to learn line calls -- first hand. Shelton is right there next to him, shouting out the calls, so Limmer can see first hand what Shelton sees.
...assuming he's lining up next to Shelton, anyway, getting 1st team reps. If not, he's learning from... Dedich??
IMO that Depends on the CBs taking a big step up and someone significantly beating out Reeder. Otherwise, it’s looking very encouraging.Going by these scouting reports and other information I'm hearing, with the rapid improvements of second- and third-year players and the additions of Poona Ford and Nate Landman, dare I say that the Rams have an elite-level Super-Bowl NFL defense?

The cross training of Dedich and Limmer just means that the Rams will have seen four players (when you count Avila and Shelton) at both Guard and Center. That’s a lot of versatility vs adversity.
Obviously, there will be combos McVay would rather not be forced to use, but the options will be there.
LMAO-so ram...
how do you really feel about reeder?
who knows if he will be the starter? i do.... he won't
your love for reeder is matched only by A2M' s hatred for kendrick....
disappointment might be in store...
go rams
slo
That’s not what’s going on right now. Speights is a clear starter.7If Reeder stars over Speights I will be pissed.
Ain't happenin'.If Reeder stars over Speights I will be pissed.
Maybe and if so it will be due to defensive front dominance.Going by these scouting reports and other information I'm hearing, with the rapid improvements of second- and third-year players and the additions of Poona Ford and Nate Landman, dare I say that the Rams have an elite-level Super-Bowl NFL defense?
Doesn't surprise me that Ford is disrupting, as every time we've played that dude he's been a pain in the ass for our line. He is a massive upgrade over Brown. No pep talks needed to get effort out of Poona, and our DL is going to be a lot better not only from him but also from improved rotational depth.
Also agree our ILB room is upgraded, which is nice. Also I would expect them as a group to mostly improve as camp progresses, since Landman, Paul, and Dolac are all new to the room and learning the scheme.
I am surprised by Limmer being worked at Guard. Not that I think he is a bad option on the depth chart at Guard, mind you. But rather because I figured the Rams wanted to push him to improve his line calls. But if that was true, then they would have him at Center right now. I am certain of that. Which means the staff is not high on Limmer's future at Center. At least that's my read, meaning I am wrong in my expectations of what Shelton's addition meant, from the perspective of the staff. Of course there is time, so maybe he will end up in the Center mix. But this stuff matters I think in terms of approach. If they saw him as a Center they'd be working his mental side hard, they would not be throwing him in there at Guard.
Lastly I have a really good feeling about Bennett. When he's been at his best he reads and distributes with that smooth and catchable ball placed precisely where the target can RAC. Previous camps and preseason he hasn't looked anything like the dude who competed and won the job at Georgia over better athletes. But maybe this is the payoff year for the Rams taking a flyer on him. I'd like to see that because I don't trust Garoppolo. I don't think Jimmy is dedicated to his craft and you must be in order to sustain in a QB role under McVay. Bennett looks like he is making a move for that QB2 role.
I just question his size... that makes him a literal non starter for me, even as a long-term back up. At 5-11" 190, maybe he put on weight since his rookie year, but still likley barely 200 lbs soaking wet...that's a big nah for me. Should have drafted Tanner McKee instead. Philly loves him and he was a 6th rounder that year.Jimmy Garoppolo is probably the best backup QB in the league. And could start for some teams. Bennett is no more than QB3 material if that. Maybe he's learned something the past couple years. But I question his heart if he needs to take a break from football in his rookie year.
