Overanalyzing aside, Akers did come back from a severe injury much faster than anyone thought. I like to think that we wipe the slate clean and look at the player over the last 8 games. 610 yards rushing, 4.8 YPC, 6 TD's
Even with that pitiful O-line he was able to rush for 3 straight 100+ yards games to end the year
I'm back to he's our guy.....
I am as well.
Hes been fun to watch the past few weeks.
What a horse he's been.

Watching Akers these last few games, it sure seems like he's getting back to his rookie season ability. If the issues during his hiatus are behind him, I would have no problem with him being the feature back next season. I still want a decent vet to back him up along with Williams though. Him and Jefferson could make a good contribution in the last year of their rookie deals. A healthy Stafford could get Jefferson the ball better than Baker did.

I think Cam justified what happened early in the season whatever it was. I think it is also obvious the new RB coach was a disaster and most likely the root cause of the problems in that position group.

They need to commit resources to the Oline during this off-season. They have played better over the last month but it was a total shit-show so that ain’t saying much.

Fixing that room goes a long way toward keeping Stafford healthy and having a better running game.

Finding a big power guy in the draft would be a welcome addition but I think Cam has plenty of power if the Oline is performing.

Cam is ok, I guess. I just like a more powerful back in the backfield, myself.

What does that mean to the Rams member in here thinking a 320 pound OL Joe Noteboom will be ready to go when the season begins?
Is Notes injury an Achiles?
I can't remember.

The only thing that happened was out incredibly injured O line, the replacements have had a little time together.
Cam actually has a few holes to run through lately.
There were a few times where he looked totally lost and he'd run right into the defensive line instead of towards the daylight.

But I can't say he's done that lately.

Yeah, expecting him back next season looks like a long shot.
Could be addition by subtraction without Noteboom in the left tackle slot.

But I would still like to have him around as a backup if financially feasible.

I love that on Cam's long run.. he finished by driving into Diggs instead of stepping out of bounds.
Made more plays in the pass game as well.

I am very happy for Cam. Must feel great to see all that hard work realized, even if it did come through a lot of BS to get there.

That said we need a secondary option to carry the load if he misses time. Big need for us. Not a change of pace, pass-catchy type either. A guy who can grind out tough yards for us in Akers' absence. So much of the BS from this season was an outgrowth of that simple truth.
