I believe Akers gained 70% of his yards in college after his first contact. He didn't have a great O-line in college. If those same skills can carry over to the NFL, Cam could have a breakout year. Moving the chains consistently will keep opposing defenses on the field longer. We all know what happens when a defense is gassed in the 3rd quarter to say nothing of the 4th. If Stafford can keep defenses honest by delivering the long ball with some measure of consistency, Akers could light things up this year. Now if we can just find a good center ...

He was the only weapon the Noles had... defenses knew it, but still couldn't stop him.

Article completely ignores the other important role of RB. To recognize, pick up and block efectively blitzers. Gurley and Brown were very good at it.

Anyone here comfortable with Rams RB's stable, along with a new center, protecting Stafford? I'm sure as hell not.

Yeah, I'm comfortable with it. Was this a problem last year? If so, what is different this year, and before you say Brown's gone, what percentage of snaps are we talking about? Akers was rookie last year with no camp. R E L A X

That said, Gurley was a natural at it right out of the gate - he's definitely missed.

Gurley was a beast in pass pro. But Brown? No. In fact he's a shitty pass blocker. I can't count how many times I said "WTF" watching that dude try to fill vs a rusher. Zero anticipation, slow-minded. No way I'll ever say that about him.

Only thing Brown did well was runs in traffic. That's his thing. And it has value but his other drawbacks (the guy is atrocious in the pattern also) are what got him a ticket out of LA.

Brown was good when the Rams had that 2018 O-line and an all-star center but faded as the rushing lanes disappeared. Cam was able to make his own holes to run through with that quick burst of speed he has....even faster than a young Gurley....

Lets hope Akers and Hendo do a better job then.

I think Akers is a natural running back. Someone who has the instincts that can't be taught. I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up that part of the game pretty quickly. Hendo, I'm not so sure about. I think he'll be that change of pace guy and pass receiver out of the backfield. But he they might wanna have plays that get rid of the ball quicker when he's in there. Stafford is very experienced at picking the hot read.

9 + 23 = one of the best backfields in the league. If we have a good OL and can stop the run this team will go all the way.

Well then drafting a Big DLineman is what is in store in with one of the Top 3 Draft Picks. I’ll say there are 2 & maybe 3 Offensive Lineman I’d draft. If not I think CB-WR-DT-OLB/DE has to be 2 of the those 3 picks.
HENDO is electric & will rush/rec for 6 TD’s.I personally think Defense is the key in 2021 draft class. A FB/TE
WR of value .

Let us not forget our rolling dynamo #27 and his 4.5ypc.
It's a good feeling to know that if God forbid #23 goes down, that this offense will not skip a beat.
Praying Akers can stay healthy this year. If so I could easily see a 1700 total yard production.
Gotta a feeling his receiving YDs are gonna spike this year.
Calling 1200 rush 500 Rec YDs

I have been and still am a big fan of Hendo. I agree that Akers is more of a natural , smoother runner of the ball.
He is so smooth in his cuts and reads.
While Hendo's style is not as fluid as Akers, He still has very good vision and has an explosion at the second level.
He also has a surprising amount of power on the short yardage stuff. I think his height and big thighs make
him a formidable short yardage back at times.
If these two can remain healthy, we are gonna have one hell of a backfield.

I do think they make a very nice one two punch with change of pace styles. What concerns me about Henderson is he seems to get dinged up a lot. Nothing that causes him to miss a portion of the season. It just seems like he gets knocked out of games, misses a game here and there, not at 100 percent some times. I'd like to see him be more durable than he's been.

All true, and so did Akers last year. I think both backs are capable 1000+ rushers if they could remain on the field.
I think Hendo may have been able to play through some of those dings, but not being on the staff
it's really not for me to say.
Hopefully they will both remain healthy this year. Having extra game this year makes the #2
back that much more important as I think coaches will try keep their top backs as healthy as
one can expect, going into playoffs.
