I suspect Irvin was on the Rams short list for EDGE trade candidates. Being on the wrong side of 30 with perhaps his best years behind him and because of the Fowler trade, I don't see a lot of interest by the Rams. But with the Rams never say never and I have faith Snead could make the $$$ work if it comes to that. IF Irvin passes thru waivers and IF Irvin is willing to finish the season on a strong contender for minimal salary - why not?

I just read that Sam Bradford got released...Wonder if that finally closes the book on him...Can't imagine another player who has ever made as much money for as little production..Injuries weren't his fault, it's just an observation...

You're kidding right? There have been plenty of complete busts that have made plenty of money. At least Sam was serviceable. He was never a bad player. It's not his fault his knees failed him.

Yea I know but if a team picks him up they will have to pay him correct? So he may or may not slip by but either way I can hope lol

With his contract, I expect they will, but you never know.
You wouldn’t think anyone would pay $4 mil for an 8 week rental of a one trick pony.

So he’ll no doubt have to sign a cheap contract after going through waivers. I’m thinking that is probably more likely with a team a little more desperate for talent.

Stranger things have happened for sure though.

If he wants to come play here for the NFL minimum, I say why not. He is a one tricky pony, but that trick allows him to snag 6ish sacks a year. Plus, he has a lot of experience at OLB from his time in Seattle. But I imagine he'll end up in Seattle or somewhere with a former Seattle assistant.

Agreed! If, He clears the waiver wire and he is willing to take a “Reasonable/Affordable” contract with the Rams I think the Rams should take a chance on him especially if the Rams do end up putting “Obo” on IR! I would think Irvin would strongly consider signing with the Rams so he could have the opportunity to be part of the Rams Defense with AD, Suh, Brockers, Fowler, etc for the rest of the Regular Season and for the Playoffs!

Interesting decision if Irvin clears waivers.

It's another roster spot that will have to be opened up. If the Rams see him as a marked improvement at OLB/DE they should make a move at a minimum salary. You have to think he would be balling out for another contract next year with or without it being with the Rams. They have a lot weigh as far as who to cut with Talib coming back and possible Thomas or Cooper. Then there is the OBO decision. As stated it will be interesting to see if they have interest.

Longacre and Young are battling injuries. Might as well bring him in for a look.

Not saying I want him but people are bagging on this guy for effort or inconsistency.

Sounds a lot like another guy we just picked up...

FYI
Brown is a FA after this season. He'll be gone. Davis has another year thru 2019, then there's the rookie Kelly behind him.

We don't need four RB's for football purposes but in terms of the master plan and roster turnover we are right where we need to be IMO.
