I would have given Sam an A grade, because almost every throw he had was under pressure, and was catchable/accurate. The Browns deserve credit for making a couple of good plays on the ball though.

Thordaddy, you better watch that pass to DR again, it wasn't a swing route, DR ran his route with his back turned, if anything Sam's throw turned him in the direction that he needed to go.

Agree about giving the Browns D their props.

They were very active and seemed a step faster than the Rams.

Bradford to Given's on that 3rd down connection was especially good considering how poorly the pass pro was and how good the Browns D was. Givens beat Joe Haden who is no slouch. That was an A+ throw by Sam.

I think some may get caught up that this was the Browns, but this isn't your dad's, or your grandfather's Browns anymore. The Browns have two of the league's fastest ascending offensive and defensive minds coaching today, and have a team LOADED with top draft picks. Team that up with their game planning for us. The real positive here was that the Rams OL gained a lot of experience going against the defense that the Browns threw at us.

OK Doc I watched it again as per your suggestion Sam double pumps,DR was showing him his hands earlier and Sam had the chance to hit him then over his right shoulder which would have been a 7-8 yard play maybe more ,pulled it down ,THEN DR turns his back to the defense but Sams throw was high DR actually has to leave his feet, upshot the throw inhibited his down field progress.

Maybe we're looking at different plays ,the one I'm referring to was the very first play, later Sam hits him for a good gainer on a screen and had he hit DR on the first pass the same way,IMO he'd have had a big gain.

Do you agree that DR has his back to the LOS, the entire time? And...it was a check down, not the #1 option, a progression. On a check down like that, DR has to stop, so that he doesn't keep running out of bounds, and Sam had to clear the lineman, the reason for the pump, and throw high. I have no problem with the play, it was the only play he had, unless we wanted him to hold it longer, or eat it, ya know?

I'll admit that was my view going in, especially because the have Weeden at QB and TR wasn't playing. But when I looked at who the coaches are I reappraised. I had thought their D would be ok, but it's better than that.

The Browns D is lightyears better than the Indy D that we faced last year.

No DR doesn't show him his numbers until after the initial pump a look down field then Sam comes back to him and throws it high, emphatically not "aiding him down the field".

I guess our eyeballs aren't screwed in the same then, because I see something completely different than you. I'm done commenting on this :beating: , but if that is one of your only complaints, then....

Well I'd hardly elevate it to the level of "complaint" just an observation that Sam isn't perfect and some of his throws aren't either.

And FWIW I'd rather WE didn't engage in characterizing .

Sure, we don't see it the same, I'm fine with that.

No problem, Rich, I didn't mean to offend. I just didn't know what else to say after I laid the play out, and how/why it went down that way. Just thought I'd try to say something funny.

Re: Browns' Joe Banner condemns Bernie Kosar's on-air commen

Ya know I joked about the connection between Bernie Miklasz and Bernie Kosar ,but now I'm beginning to think I was on to something.

I pretty well see the PD forums and FWIW the post writers to be second rate, but just out of idle curiosity I've been looking for some sort of pronouncement by Bernie M about the way Kosar acted.

Damned if can find anything, not sayin' there isn't anything, could just be my poor search capabilities , but for a guy who spouts vociferously about most controversial topics he sure does seem to be closed mouth about this one.

Doth I smell sumthin? :???:

Kosar just sounded depressed.

Dude needs to stay off the alcohol and don't forget his meds.

Re: Browns' Joe Banner condemns Bernie Kosar's on-air commen

I wish I could find a link to Las Vegas' ESPN 1100AM show called "Gridlock" where they BASHED Kosar.

Some of the lines I remember "I dont think it's the Rams receivers' parents who should be ashamed, they're not the one doing hardcore porn"

and that Kosar is a pure hater, and that why is his daughter's porn name lexxi and not lexxxi.

it went wayyy further than that, and i was laughing my arse off. I immediately thought of the member here named Thor lol
