I guess the Ravens are solidifying their run D after Henry ran over them. We lost a fine, vocal captain. Donald, JJ, and Ramsey have to step up as the voice of defense.

Best of luck Brockers, I’ll always remember you for stabilizing our run defense when it was arguably the worst of all time under Spagnuolo in 2011

His emotional reaction, when they beat the Saints, to go the Superbowl, one of the great moments in Rams history. Will miss him dearly!

I'm not sure but I think the Ravens have a hole at RDE starter, the same position he played in LA. He's a decent player but he's not a particularly good DE. He's a 3T so since the Raven's play a hybrid 3-4 he could end up there.

Baltimore just made a trade to get the All Pro from Jacksonville. This team is going to be Top Dog !! Jackson is just getting started & John Harbaugh got coach of the year. He is getting true Leaders.

- Yeah C. Campbell not the other young stud. My point is that I watch the awards night before the Super Bowl. Was pretty freaking awesome. People I work with we’re giving me shit for watching it. First class NFL history . Brought back so many great memories of players.Brockers & Campbell are 2 Blue-caller players.
I’m a Mark Ingram fan as well.I also like the fact that The Rams(Mcvay) went Back East to learn from them.Peters is there as well, so I question that, but his growth from The Rams(Wade,Talib,Pleasant) made him such a better player.
M.Brockers was a PILLAR that Spags always talked about but never drafted.

We had a depth problem at DT last year, now we lose Brock.

We had a hole at LB last year with Reeder starting, and now we're going to lose Littleton, our only good ILB? So two questions at ILB this year?

Really wondering how this defense gets better when the front 7 is getting worse.
Brock was playing a DE position with us not a DT. And he was ineffective as a pass rusher and marginally adequate as a run defender in that role IMO.

He played 3 tech inside on the line, I guess I should've said Defensive interior instead of DT, but that's like calling Donald a DE lol. They may play "DE" in a 3-4 but Brock wouldn't start outside in a 4-3..no way. Brock is an interior D lineman and that's a spot we don't have much talent. SJD was a very pleasant surprise and should be a starter this year. Who will play next to him? Gaines at NT? Didn't show anything last year IMO and it's wishful thinking to pencil him in as an impact player. He will be a body we have up front. What talented players are we bringing in? What will our depth be?

And Brock didn't get paid to rush the passer, he got paid to eat up blocks and stop the run which he was decent at. Classifying him as a "DE" and saying he was ineffective as a pass-rusher is misleading based on what we asked him to do. I wouldn't say his play warranted his draft position but he still had more talent than everyone else playing interior D line not named AD. We haven't stopped the run well in 2 years, I'm just curious what our plan is. Gaines? Tanzel Smart? Morgan Fox at 3 tech? That wont get it done we need more talent up front.

This is what happens when you fail on draft picks or simply trade them away.

I guess moving Natson to DT wasn’t ever considered?
I’d pay a small fortune just to see that in one game.

really?

this is what happens when you build a good team and players leave in free agency because you can't pay all of them.

Class act. Ultimate team player and professional. Solid run defender.

Glad he’s going to a good team that will be playing post season games.

Now that Brockers is gone new DC Brandon Staley, Eric Henderson & Thand Bogardus have to go to work on finding the Rams player or players on the roster who can fill the void on the defensive front @ that 5 tech post.

One Rams who stand to experience a positive over this event is our RFA 5 tech DE Morgan Fox. Good chance that Fox importance to the Rams defense is increased. Fox has been a Ram now for a long time. Fox will be entering his 5th Rams training camp this summer. Fox is the team’s best starting option at DE with Brockers gone. I think Fox offers more than a pass rusher than Brockers. If Rams retain Fox is will cost $2.144 million. Fox can be retained for one more season. Certainly a small $$ hit for a DE who has been around since early May 2016 during the Jeff Fisher/ Gregg Williams era. He has worked under Mike Waufle/ Clyde Simmons/ Bill Johnson & last season under Eric Henderson.

Fox has been a reserve until 2018 when due to ER/OLB'er injuries he was moved into starting ER/OLB post just left of the 5 tech post next to Brockers but tore his ACL & was IR'd. Fox has 37 gms of NFL experience with 4 starts & 3 finishes. Last season Fox played all 3 DL posts in the base defensive line up & played one of the 2 down lineman in Wades 2-4-5.

Staley/Henderson might give 2018 Snead draft pick Justin Lawler 6-4 265 a chance to see if he might handle being a reserve @ DE & OLB'er this upcoming season. Another DL who is sure to get some serious interest is Marquise Copeland. Copeland offer more of what Brockers gave us the last few seasons as a run stopper. The Fox/Copeland duo might surprise a few around here!

Marquise Copeland Overview
Active interior lineman with three seasons of consistent production despite a lack of desired size and length. Copeland's upper body power and anchor strength are quite impressive, but his below average physical traits makes it difficult to project him as an effective run-stuffer as a pro. There will be teams who write him off due to measurables, but his ability to handle himself in the trenches and his nose for the football make him a worthy consideration as a priority free agent if he can carry more weight as 4-3 nose.
Strengths
  • Above-average tackler for interior lineman
  • Consistently active and productive
  • Quick diagnosing and stepping in play-side direction
  • Works hands effectively with square pads at point of attack
  • Feels down blocks and fires strong punch into blocker
  • Grown man pop and extension into center
  • Base strength to flatten and counter drive-up attempts by zone blockers
  • Sinks and scraps against doubles
  • Keeps feet churning in his rush
  • Efficient, direct routes into pocket
Weaknesses
  • Chances will be hurt by tape measure and scale
  • Not enough mass to be a space-eater on pro level
  • Lacks length to play quickly off of blocks
  • Not wide enough to man two gaps
  • Can be reached and walled off on stretch plays
  • Needs more consistent unison of hands and feet laterally
  • Effort rusher lacking quick-win moves

The "Cookie Monster" is gone. He was a good Ram. Reminded me of Larry Brooks... and was even given Larry Brooks' number 90.

He lived up to it. He was steady and "unsung" in light of AD as Brooks was with Youngblood and Olsen on the line.

Well...he's moving on. All the best to Brockers!!!

IIRC... Michael Brockers came into the NFL as a sophomore out of LSU. He was a big, strong guy, but he also had the maturity and brains to succeed in the NFL. He was a much better 4-3 defensive tackle, and my favorite memory of him was when he absolutely crushed Chicago Bear QB Josh McCown, even though he was called for a penalty. It was a clean hit, and JL ran it back for a would-have-been TD. Great play by Brock! Team leader, great guy, we certainly could have used him this year... Good luck Brock!

Coronavirus restrictions causing holdup in Ravens' $30M deal with Michael Brockers

Former Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Michael Brockers seemingly cashed in on a three-year, $30 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens at the start of 2020 NFL free agency, but restrictions stemming from the current coronavirus pandemic have put the deal on hold and perhaps in jeopardy, according to multiple reports.

The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec reported Wednesday that a recent Brockers physical performed by an independent doctor raised concerns about the veteran's ankle, which bothered the former first-round draft pick in 2019. And while Baltimore still intends to sign the 29-year-old free agent, "it's been challenging for the Ravens to get a handle on Brockers' condition," per Zrebiec, leading to the team showing interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers vet Ndamukong Suh, who is reportedly re-signing with the Bucs on a one-year, $8 million deal.

The Ravens are "obviously motivated to get Brockers," Zrebiec added, noting that Baltimore has since allowed defensive tackle Michael Pierce to sign elsewhere and dealt defensive end Chris Wormley to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. But because modified NFL rules, put in place amid the pandemic, prohibit players or team doctors from traveling for physicals or team-facility visits, there are questions about whether the Ravens still want to pay Brockers $30 million over three years -- and whether the lineman will be fully recovered from a previous high-ankle sprain by the time the 2020 season kicks off.

"Sounds like Brockers will still be a Raven," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted Wednesday, "but they haven't been able to properly assess where his high-ankle sprain is ... (Their) doctors haven't examined him in person."

Drafted 14th overall by the Rams back in 2012, Brockers spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the team, missing just five games during that time. An integral piece of the defensive line that helped Los Angeles to Super Bowl LIII in 2018, Brockers wouldn't be the only big-name vet added to Baltimore's "D" in the event his contract is eventually finalized. The team also acquired five-time Pro Bowler Calais Campbell from the Jacksonville Jaguarsin exchange for a fifth-round pick.
