I keep saying this. not to you, but a bunch of youngins...these two are strongly correlated...trust me...yards = points.....

Strongly correlated isn't an absolute, though. Yards are not equal to points. Points are equal to points. Do you get points from an 80 yard pass if you turn it over in the endzone?

If your team is efficient, you don't need to average 400 yards a game. If your QB averages 300 yards a game through the air, your defense is giving up a lot of points and/or your offense is one dimensional. I hope neither are the case for the 2016 LA Rams.

Strong correlation is all we need. For the givens that are known....Sure, field position plays a role...So do turnovers, as you state in your example...but typically, in any given drive, the ability to accumulate yards increases the chance that you will score...same with the defense...limiting the yards decreases the odds of a score...

Agreed. I don't mean to argue semantics, but that's an entirely different statement than yards=points, though.

In my opinion, what we do need to work on is scoring points (like I originally stated). An offense averaging 300 yards passing per game doesn't mean anything if you're having to roll out your kicker every time your offense reaches the redzone.

I voted "booty" cause I could care less how many yds per game the pas for as long as they figure out how to win.

As long as the yards don't come during garbage time. If they are gaining yards like that, our defense is off the field and fresh for the 4th quarter. That's good news in most games. If that happens who knows how far the team goes. I'm still deep in the koolaid.

I just heard a QB say something about ending every drive in a kick (either a punt, fg, or extra point) was his job. No turnovers basically. I'd be ok with every drive ending in a fg...for a lil while....;)
