Consider the source. I also pasted the entire article so you wouldn't have to venture over to that online rag.

So this one might seem a bit crazy, but that’s what makes it worth covering.

In his recent piece over at Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox listed one player from each of the 32 clubs that they should consider trading. For the Rams, that player is cornerback jalen Ramsey. But to Knox, he sees some life in that scenario.
“Would the Los Angeles Rams be making a questionable decision if they traded a player they only recently acquired? Possibly,” says Knox. “However, they have to at least consider flipping cornerback Jalen Ramsey because of the potential value involved. He would bring multiple first-round picks in return, and the Rams don’t have the cap space needed to sign him to a long-term deal.”
Right now, the Rams may be forced to make a move when looking at that little number underneath “cap space.” If they aren’t able to give him the money he desires - and remember, he once backed up a Brinks truck to training camp to make a point - then the Rams may have to franchise-tag him or lose him after having the stud defender for less than two seasons.

In the nine games he played in last season, Ramsey picked off a single pass, broke up four more, and forced a fumble.

This team will have to decide between keeping one of the best cornerbacks in the game, or using him to get a bounty of picks to help establish other areas that need some reinforcement.

While I hope and expect this speculation has no legs, there are factors here that deserve consideration.

When the Rams made the trade for Ramsey, they were attempting to save their season and didn’t know they would have to eat so much money by dumping both Gurley and Cooks. They also didn’t know that COVID would change the financial landscape of the league.

On the other hand, I believe this writer overestimates Ramsey’s trade value. Given the new financial landscape, I’m not so sure multiple first rounders would be in the offing if the perception is that he is unsignable.

The good news is that Ramsey has not threatened to hold out and his Brinks stunt was probably more a reflection of his lack of trust in the Jaguars organization. The other side of the coin is whether or not the experiences with Cooks and Gurley make this administration think twice about paying the premium once again. It’s certainly an issue that the Rams brass will continue to discuss.

Sportswriters with no real connections to NFL players or coaches are just making shit up in an effort to continue to produce material for posting during this period of no actual sports.

Bleacher Report is a joke - and not the funny kind that the Joker would laugh at either.

The Rams do need to look hard at all this. If/when they pay this dude he has to be worthy of the investment. They're in a position where a massive contract miss would probably close their window of competition at least in terms of being a real contender. And I've mentioned this before that even though I think Ramsey has the competitive streak to avoid putting his feet up when he gets paid, his behavior and attitude are a little concerning. Really didn't like him throwing Rapp under the bus last season for example. Not sure he's going to be a We Not Me fit, could end up being the kind of big signing that shows the front office doesn't believe in their own mantra in fact, if he lets the money go to his head.

But by that same token after giving up two first round picks anything short of signing him will probably be an overall loss in terms of the trade. No player is worth a 2 year rental at that cost. And I doubt they're going to recoup similar value if they elect to move him.

All of that aside, however, Ramsey probably isn't even their top concern right now. That would be the LT position and what the plan is in the event Whit continues to degrade this season. So for now at least the OL reigns supreme in terms of how this season will go at least.

We’ll see, if we can’t sign Ramsey to a new deal, I would severely question the Rams FO in terms of competence

Nobody is going to give up multiple 1st round picks for a player under contract for this season only. The Rams did last year but that gave them a yr and a half of contract. And even that was a risky move but it appears both parties want to extend their time together.

I will be extremely disappointed if we aren't able to come to a contract with Ramsey.

I have thought of the Rams trading Ramsey. When the trade to acquire him came about I thought they paid too high a draft capital price as well as his cap price tag. Eventually, he will get a high-end contract that adds to the Rams already to top-heavy cap expenses. I still have doubts that he is worth the overall costs. I really don't know how gifted he is or if he just gets under WR's skin and they lose concentration. By resigning Ramsey the Rams will have to make sacrifices on resigning others.

The Rams have him for this year and can franchise him next year in the worst-case scenario. I highly doubt they can't make a deal before it comes to that. I don't see Ramsey giving the Rams a big break in his contract At the same time I see him being reasonable to stay in the Rams player-friendly environment after playing in the dysfunctional Jacksonville environment.

Rams will be rolling with Ramsey as I don't see them wanting to trade him. Nor to I see any team making a quality offer. They are building the secondary around him already stating he will cover the oppositions best WR wherever he lines up. The Rams have restructured the defense with new DC Stanley getting new players to replace departing players. On paper the Rams defense looks to be improved with much better depth. The defense will be the surprise of the new year with Ramsey playing a key role.

I really think our secondary is going to be a big piece of Staley's defense. Ramsey is a huge piece of that!

He has the size to match up with Tight ends, we already know he can cover elite receivers, and we are also learning that he has the IQ to be thrown into safety roles.

Like our front seven our back end can be extremely multiple and I truly think we have a good mix between our linebackers and our secondary. That back end is going to be able to be very multiple.

Persobally, I would be fine with a trade, IF we recoup what we lost or a 1st and a need-player. We HAVE to sign Kupp. If it comes down to one or the other....is there even a discussion?

I don't think we should have traded for him to begin with, but no use rehashing old threads. It's done, I just hope they sign him to a decent deal and he actually performs without being a cancer to the locker room and organization.

Why do people want the Rams to be in perpetual rebuilding mode? Do they honestly think they can replace him via the draft? Wade had him playing a whole lot of zone coverage which is a waste of his talent. This team could have one of the best and deepest secondaries in the NFL yet people want to break it up? That green on the other side of the fence are weeds, not grass.

I'd be in favor of trading him if we could get two first rounders out of him. Why pay a CB 25 million per year?

As for trading Ramsey or letting him go after the season: I have but two words to say: Fuck. No.

He's on a Hall of Fame trajectory, and he's arguably the best cornerrback in the NFL - in his prime, no less - and they want to trade him? Pay the man. You can pay him and Kupp, and it makes the defense better, so why wouldn't you do it?
