Thank you #77 for not only everything you did on the field, but off the field too. You are first class in every shape, way & form. You were the first free agent signed by Sean McVay and have been nothing short of iconic. God Bless you Andrew Whitworth and I wish you and your family nothing but the very best and thank you Cincinnati.

Retire and back for playoffs next season like Weddle. Jk.
Well deserved and great timing too. Love the big guy and he’ll be missed.

You know, Whitt is really big,
but he's strong for his size!

Great player, greater person!

I want him as a coach for this team!

Sportsmen or women don’t often get to go out at the very top. Who’d blame him if he went now and what a way to finish.

Andrew Whitworth just said on the radio-- he hasn't made up his mind yet to retire-- it's still up in the air.

Oh, didn't see a thread for Whit himself when I posted this in the free agency thread so will post here as well since he said the same thing on Ellen's show apparently. Like I said in other thread, if he stays I could see us not pursuing Noteboom and grooming Alaric Jackson for 2023 and beyond.

I still suspect Whitworth retires, but his return would be a huge boon.

Elite LTs are so, so, so hard to find. And Big Whit is 100% still elite. We are in win-now mode for another 2+ seasons yet, and Noteboom has serious durability concerns. I am in no rush to pass the torch if Big Whit is still willing to contribute.

He was the highest graded pass blocking offensive lineman this year, if I recall, and our best graded lineman in the Super Bowl. At age 40, he is still a mauler in the run game, as well. He is showing NO signs of slowing down!

He has picked up some injuries recently but they were just bad luck that can happen at any age (getting rolled up on).

You never know when father time catches up to a player, but at this rate, even at age 45+, I suspect he could still play in a depth role, which is just deranged. It's like he's not even human, but a football playing robot! :laugh1:Absolutely incredible athlete!

He said in another article he intends to make up his mind before the new league year, which is March-16.

Not a fan of McGinest but I usually like Garafolo (I am also a bald-headed-Italian, so we are almost related).

However they were Really Weak with this little interview.
Great example of the lazy and sloppy National Media.

In the full interview, Garafolo brought-up that Stafford (and Kupp) did not know it was fourth-down on the 4th-and-1 play. McGinest chimed in and everyone had a good laugh. Only problem is those two incompetent-idiots had the Wrong Play.

They thought it was the 4th-and-1 when the Rams were on offense and driving for the go-ahead-TD. The Kupp-end-around. These two morons thought the 13-year-QB (Stafford) and perhaps the most-aware player on the field (Kupp) did NOT know it was fourth down. Whitworth was too gracious to correct them.

Stafford commented afterwards that once they had taken the lead, and the defense went onto the field, he was kind of nervous and mostly had his head down. When Donald pressured Burrow on the final play to close-out the win, Stafford was not certain whether THAT Play was a fourth-down-play. He's on a mic (been replayed a thousand times) asking Skowronek immediately after the play if that was fourth down. Stafford also told Kupp this as they went to the stage to accept the Lombardi trophy and Kupp said he also did not know.

How does Mike Garafolo and Willie McGinest NOT know this?
They don't pay attention. That's how.

My biggest complaint about the National Media is that they are lazy, sloppy and arrogant.

Like I said, Whits retirement is no guarantee. Wayne Gretzky told him two rings are better than one recently.

If he stays Joe moves on and AJ becomes backup. It does make the cap harder to figure out.

Why would his CAP be harder to figure out ? Wouldn't it just be another back-loaded/incentive filled contract extension of 2-3 years that isn't fully realized after he retires again following the season ?
