If Big Ben is going to have the Tommy John procedure, which it sounds like it could be a career ender. The rehab is prolonged and Ben is 37. His contract runs through 2021 so this was likely his last contract. If he retires next year the Steelers still would owe him $25M of his contract (signing bonus). IMO if it is Tommy John I think Ben will call it a career and collect his $25M and live happily every after.
If the axe falls on Eli in the next couple of weeks, this will mean that the only one of the top 3 QB's of the 2004 draft still starting would be Rivers. If he stays healthy I expect him to play this season and maybe 2 more years. He's already said he won't play into his 40's. His health and family are more important and he wants to coach his son in high school, which is why he still lives in San Diego.
Goff reminds me of him in some ways. A quiet leader who leads by example, but isn't afraid to "remind" people of their responsibilities. A genuinely, nice guy with no flies on him. He's the kind of guy you can really pull for and get behind. He's the perfect fit for this team culture.
