I don’t have any tattoos but I’ve seen some spectacular pieces so I disagree they ALL look like works from untalented art students.

Correct - actually, the majority of tattoos do not look like that. Not ones done by reputable artists.

I am with you on that. Pretty much anti tattoo myself. If others want to do them " Its a free country.
I do not believe I have the right to do that to myself.
Besides, now they are linking tattoo ink to cancer..... nope, nope.
Some tats are intricate and done by very skilled artists. But the body does try and heal and they get all muddy and less defined. So they get them de done but are never the same.
Also, what they are is prison culture and gang culture brought into the mainstream. Some Native and Islander culture too. And in the case of hot young women getting them, porn culture. That is where it started in the 90s. And I was look at enough of it back then.
But, free country and it not my arm.
