Bernie Kosar (Good God)

Unprofessional is the only word that fits. "Color commentators", obviously, are a little more animated and bias, but this guy was just plain insulting and came across as a complete dick. The other guy (Donovan) did an admirable job trying to keep the conversation on point, but he had no chance of making it a legit broadcast with Kosar CONSTANTLY whining about how the Rams' QBs weren't taking advantage of coverages, and how the receivers were awful, and how Clemens turned his daughter into a porn star (my embellishment).

You don't often hear commentators say the things he was saying (e.g., saying the receiver's parents should be embarrassed, and how Clemens is so awful) . I was going to make a compilation video of all of his inappropriate comments throughout the broadcast, and even have it queued up in my video editor, but I really don't feel like re-living it again. The guy's an embarrassment - plain and simple.

Bernie escalated real quick in the shit talking, it just got worse and worse over time... very unprofessional. Its like he was completely oblivious to the fact its a fucking pre season game. Your going to see mistakes!

One of the main reasons hes a lame is because he got a little to personal with the family shit. Talk shit all you want on the routes, catches, runs and passes but leave the fucking family out of it jackass.

Bernie is so damned smart. I wish he'd go into coaching. He'd make a spectacular QB coach. He might be a terrific OC if given enough time to grow into the job. he know a bunch of different systems. He knows this one from his time in Dallas. He knows the Lindy Infante system that would probably work well in todays NFL. And he knows the West Coast through Trestman.

Wait a minute. He left out "and he's a great people person who really can bring out the best in those for whom he's responsible - like his daughter." He might be a better baseball coach though. He can ensure those under him can both pitch AND catch - probably know a few new ways to use a bat too.

not defending him by any means. I havent seen the game yet, just bits and pieces from videos posted here and there. Have heard many people say he sounded like he was half in the bag when the game started, and got worse as the game progressed but I have also read that he is suffering from long term effects of many concussions, one of which is slurred speech, but that still doesnt excuse him from the rude comments

Yeah, he needs a couple more shots after that shyte color commentary last night. This was a PRESEASON game.....jeez. He was jacking his jaws like it was the playoffs and the Rams players, and by inference the coaches, didn't know what they were doing. Babbling about calling a run play with a stacked defense. Of course that was going to be called....the coaching staff was EVALUATING A BUNCH OF ROOKIE RUNNING BACKS! The guy is a friggin TOOL, possibly daim bramaged, but a tool nonetheless! izzed:

That game was the Browns superbowl. They've never felt so good. We have plans that exceed winning a preseason game. Kosar was just partying with the rest of his boys.

Seriously, IDC. They could say whatever they want. They're not coaches and could barely string together two coherent logical sentences. As Rams fans, we know what we got. Let the rest of the league talk down to us, because come September, real football is played. The smart ones know that. One day, Kosar will too.

OK - so to not be too wishy washy (love the term), I always kinda held him in acceptable terms - good player - not great by any means - but certainly above the likes of Trent Dilfer - for Pete's sakes. But who the FUCK doesn't hear this and say, " hey Bernie, you know you are being broadcast?" I suppose you could chalk it up to being Bernie. But does no no one have a switch? This guy was like the worst PD poster suddenly having a national mic at his disposal. Oh - the HORRORS!!!!

The guy in the booth with him is a long time Clevelander. He's been on the news scene, specifically sports for nearly three decades and is pretty good. He has a few Emmys. I've always enjoyed his coverage of local sports.

You guys are having fun bashing on Kosar and I get it. But keep in mind he isn't an announcer, he's a guy they stick in the booth once or twice a year because of his history with the Browns. Many of his comments were rude for sure and I'd bet the station talked to him, or maybe the team did after reviewing the broadcast. But most of his football points were on the money.
