Agreed. mcVay had had 6 years to find a decent back up QB which he has completely failed at.
Agreed. Bortles in the backup QB role was adequate but short-lived. The backup QB situation under McVay has generally been pretty awful. It was much better during the Fisher years. It had to be - the Rams were relying on their backups non-stop, and for entire seasons at a time, with Bradford always injured!

Truth be told, most teams are screwed if they lose their starter, save for a single game or two situation.

Dallas was an aberration I believe.

But the cards didn't have Murray so we should have been able to win that game, IMO.

Well, we are now looking up at the Commodes, let's get some youngsters involved, I am not throwing in the towel but we should real world in-game evaluation of depth. Injuries are somewhat forcing this to happen anyway

Biggest issue is not this year or last year, but Wolford has been the backup for 4 years. He's really not very good at all.

With a limited window with Stafford, Donald, Kupp, Ramsey, I go with option C. If memory serves, Hurts didn't do squat in the first two years, for whatever reason. We don't have more than two years with this core group, so get players that can maximize what we have.

Agree in the sense The Rams needed a RB. The thing is though this Cam Akers thing stinks.

Cam Akers
Tutu Atwell
Lance Brusss.

Les Snead can’t miss like this & expect to win consistently.I do think The Rams always do well finding value at the end of the draft.
I know my track record goes back a long way.I think finding a twinner pass rusher is going to be huge. Brandon Graham messed up tonight to loss the Philly game, but 13 years ago coming out of Michigan.I had him circled for The Rams to draft.
Les Snead has always done an excellent job working the draft board. I wonder when he had Covid that messed things up with him & Sean Mcvay? #52,58 & whatever T.Lewis was drafted at. There was a lot of chances to move up & down the draft board.

I don't think any of us were ever confident in the two we have. The question though is why was McVay? To hear yesterday how hard he pushed for McCoy to go to Arizona made me sick. He is clearly better than both of our backups and with him at least maybe we had a shot yesterday. SMH.
Answer is because they come cheap. The need to stay under the cap while he pays the big $$$ to the core players.

And not to mention his shitty throw to Kupp has probably put him out for quite some time.

Would a reporter ever ask " Coach, I know we are not in the QB room or on the practice field, but from our view it is pretty apparent that the two we have are not capable of leading this team. Any reason why you haven't tried to upgrade that position?

Why not just sign a veteran with experience?
Like who though? If they are spending money on a backup QB, it means less $ to spend elsewhere
And to be clear, I dont think Wolford is the answer in any way, shape or form.
Well, unless he's the answer to the question, "Who is the worst backup QB currently in the NFL"

I think you all are focusing on a minor consideration for McVay.
I think McVay's main focus for back up QB's is to lead a scout offense, imitating upcoming opponents. I think that's why Wolfy and Perkins are here, because they offer different type QB styles for our defense to go against. They may be good imitators and McVay likes that. Before this year, most of us would have said losing Stafford means sure losses anyway and maybe McVay feels the same way, so why not have back up QB's that can help them win during most of the year. I know that right now with Stafford injured our focus shifts toward incompetent game day back ups. IF we spend our 2nd round pick next year on a back up QB, that will be a lost year too, imo. We need help on the Oline more than anything, to help Stafford stay upright....
So you sign a legit backup to come in if needed and keep Wolford and Perkins on the practice squad. Let them imitate from there. They've both been on the 53 all year, weren't they?

Honestly, I'd draft Anthony Richardson out of Florida with our second round pick. He's sushi-raw, but put him behind Stafford for a few years (if Stafford is even on the team next year; I worry that his wife will have him retire after this concussion.), have him learn touch, and he could be our own Patrick Mahomes. His athletic traits are out of this fucking world; he has Mahomes' arm with prime Michael Vick's speed, and he's a smart kid as well.

I know that our offensive line/edge rushing needs work, but you're not going to have the option to draft a potential HOFer with a second round pick.

Well - you tell me MAN!! All I ever here is about guys that are injury prone.
I could actually give a RAT’s Azz if he was injured or not really. I think he was a POOR draft pick. He is ADDING insult to INJURY.

—Just saying what I noticed in training camp. How hard he actually works to get himself healthy, stronger & better is on Lance Brusss. The Rams have an excellent training staff & facility.

AM I giving up on Brussss? No I didn’t give up on Tutu Atwell until a few games in. He had his first TD though & showed off his speed.
Drafting Lance Brusss is not like drafting Lance Dickerson. Creed in that case. The Rams did need a RG though. I just think having a year of NFL experience is worth something.

Logan Bruss. If you want to call someone a bust during their rookie year, at least have the decency to get their name right.

Nice — yeah. A badger. Let’s see what happens with David Edwards. Is he a Ram next season.

The 2019 draft was huge for The Rams. Nick Scott IMO is a Pro Bowl safety. Greg Freaking Gaines was a beast. He & A’ Jackson not playing last Sunday hurt The Rams chances of beating the Cards.

Thanks Logan Bruss. Who knows the next Ram great inter-lineman :)

There is no questioning how valuable game experience is but coming from a program that actually teaches is a big plus. He was slated to be the stater at some point this season and barring the injury he would have had that chance quickly with all the other injuries. By all accounts, he was targeted by the Rams at that slot and they got him. Putting him in the same category as Atwell is short sighted even if you got to hang at camp. The pros, coaching staff and players think highly of him and based on that I expect he will come back strong and be a starter in 23.

That’s fine with me, as far as signing a FA vet QB. Drafting a second round QB with the intent being of developing a guy over the next couple of years, is wasting our window AD and others. We have greater needs the next two years, imo.
