What part of "only one kicker has missed more between 30 and 49 yards" did you not understand? Check the stats. Zuerlein has a heck of a leg but he isn't the only kicker who has one. Most NFL kickers have a better percentage over 50 yards, too.
Well, it sounds like you're talking to Fisher, not GZ. It's not like he's going to say "no coach, I'm not going to attempt that kick because I don't expect to make it."
Ok, smart guy, let's go ahead and count the missed 48 yarder. That's TWO legit misses, and 48 isn't a gimme. Again, perspective
How many of the other kickers are trotting out and attempting 63 yarders? I'll wait..... You're going to penalize him for missing a 53 yarder and having a 50 yarder blocked because of a blown assignment? Yeah, right......... And while we're at it, that 40 yarder was blocked as well. Again, lazy.
Sure, but isn't it one in the same? Fisher has a boat load of confidence in GZ, correct? He's our coach, he makes those decisions. GZ is our kicker, and he has to make those kicks. I don't think that Fisher would put him in that position, unless he thinks he would make it, this has to be based on something, practice, strength of his leg, etc.
Look, I really like GZ, and that cannon of a leg, but he scares the hell out of me, when the game is on the line.
Are you confident, when he kicks it, every time?
Not, at all, blaming him for this loss. His misses, are pretty bad though...

I'm quite confident, actually, when it comes to 51 yarders and in.
OK. I believe you. I'm not, when it comes to game winners. And, like I said, I really like him. He hasn't proved to me that he is clutch, in any way.
Nailing a 61 yard field goal isn't clutch? The 50+ yard field goal to send the game to OT wasn't clutch? To each his own, I guess.

Believe what you want about the guy, but the stats tell the story. He has been in the bottom third of the league his whole career.
Clutch is winning, or sending games into OT. Is my definition skewed?
Again, I don't dislike him, at all. I just think it is a fair conversation.
I can comment on game to game, or I can comment on, overall value. That is what I am doing, the latter.
Not at all, but I would like to think that hitting a 61 yarder is clutch, no matter the situation, but maybe that's just me. I believe it was said that only 15 kickers have made field goals beyond 60 yards and this guy did it twice in his first 3 years. By your definition, he did send the game into OT with the 50+ yard field goal.

Missed the tying FG from 48 yards with 1:45 left. Was that clutch?
Sure, that would be clutch, and if a kicker misses that, I have a problem.
That's weak, because he's 14 for 14 on PATs. You can believe what you want, but what I do know is that he actually only missed 2 field goals from within 50 yards this year. If you want to hold him accountable for the blocked kicks and 63 yard misses, go right ahead.
Yes, it was, and overall, he had a pretty good game, but history doesn't go away, nor does trust, how this team is built, or coached.
He's been a pretty good kicker for us, so I'm good. Even though his percentage dipped last year, he still made 80% of his kicks, and 92% the year before, after putting up 74% his rookie year. I'm just saying he isn't a problem for us. That could change, however.
