I'm not entirely disagreeing with this... but how do you square it with Rams publicly saying they want to extend him.
Stop listening to what the Rams say publicly. They were trying to move Kupp well before they finally admitted it.

I'm working from the assumption we're most likely not going to be looking for a RB in this draft outside of UDFA or day 3 at most because of that.
The Rams say this about a lot of good players...the guys who are in between the great, obvious resigns and JAGS. Exhibit A: Ernest Jones.

At this time last year, both Snead and McVay were saying that they want to extend Jones. But they have a number in mind, probably at a discount, and if it's not going to work in that number range, they move on.

There are a lot of things we may want. I want my wife to stop ordering shit from Amazon, but we have been unable to reach such an agreement on the matter, so it's apparently not going to happen.

First 3 picks should be attempts to upgrade starting line up:

WR
CB
TE

After that, enhance depth at OT, QB, ILB & RB but remain open to all positions if solid players fall in draft. Consider trades for 2026 picks whenever you aren't excited by your options.

One way to read this comment is Rams may want to extend him but in the face of it not getting done at their price, all options are open up at RB this offseason? Specifically in the draft.

Seems reasonable.

This seems the reasonable take.

And any interest in RBs in the draft flows from there.

As it pertains to FA, Kyren is as good as gone. For two reasons:

1. He lacks the gear to flip the field when the seam is there. McVay's offense has missed that element since Gurley fell off.

2. Rams don't know whether he can fix the fumble problem, so they will draft a RB from this very deep class.

After the 2025 season Kyren will be a FA and the Rams will have a two deep backfield. Given that there are RBs in every draft, plus the likelihood the Rams will have a strong RB1/RB2 combo, means it is likely Williams takes the best contract he can and hopefully it nets us a comp pick.
It would be foolish to resign him, especially before he even plays out his current contract. We have done that. It went horribly wrong.

Don't sign RB's to a 2nd contract unless they are immensely talented (i.e. Barkley, CMC, etc.). Sadly, Kyren is not that.

Right. The draft is often a significant marker in that if they haven't worked an extension by that time, they draft someone and move forward. IIRC, it was around April when it was announced that Jones wouldn't be getting an extension.

Rams saying they’re trying to extend Kyren is in no way the same as the rams just not publicly admitting they were shopping Kupp. Now, if they came out and said, “Absolutely not. We would never try to trade Kupp” and then did it, then I’d agree with you.

I think sometimes fans’ wishful thinking melds into their predictions. Never once has McVay even hinted anything other then loving Kyren at running back

Point is the Rams always spin shit positive. Almost to a fault. And I say almost because I like that they do that for the players.

But they are completely full of BS with this stuff and rarely show their cards or what they are thinking. To have a good feel for that requires using your eyes and reading between the lines based on the fact that they will in fact make that hard call.

Oh and also... This has nothing to do with them "loving Kyren" either. It always has to do with what is best for the team. So go back to the logic of it and barring a situation where Kyren signs for a discount he's unlikely to stick around.

I find it interesting that no one thinks the Center position can be improved. I understand the success of the offense the O-line was great with Limmer filling in. I just don't know if he can improve enough from 1st to 2nd year to provide consistent protection for Stafford. He is also on the lighter side (308 lbs) to provide a great Base against Bull rushers.
His PFF grade for Pass blocking was down close to 40 ..... that's almost the cellar

Well... I would say Corner... but I'd much rather bring Witherspoon back, and let Williams go.... then draft a Cb to play opposite Witherspoon.

Inside linebacker is a must... I believe through the draft you can get a guy to lineup next to Omar.

WR is a need if Kupp is traded and Tutu isn't brought back. You have to draft one just because of your history of finding star Wrs.... and add another through free agency by either bringing back Robinson or upgrading there...

We can draft a replacement for bobby brown.... add some online depth...

Draft a TE... I don't have that as high a priority with Higs back... Parkinson can back up Higs.... I guess you could let Parkinson go but getting rid of Jonah jackson and darious williams is already going to impact the cap

We need a young QB.
You can draft one but there are some young QBs that can be gotten on other teams rosters for a draft pick... to me there's a point in this draft that I'd rather trade a 5th for a young Qb than draft one. Seeing Ewers throw at the combine reminded me of that

It is a legit question. I like Limmer but some competition would be good for him.

By way of the draft the Rams biggest needs are WR, TE, RB, Return Specialist, and Olineman.

By way of free agency the Rams biggest needs are CB, ILB, and Nose Tackle.

SO talking about the above at RB..
I’d like the bigger RB & that guy from NC Tar-heels is listed as being off the board when The Rams draft.

El Chapo what do you think.I like depth as well.

what about Dedich?? Plus the rookie who started week 17 who was drafted before Leveston?

I'd add TE. Not a big Parkinson/Allen guy.

I'd DEFINITELY flip a 5th to the Raiders for TE Michael Mayer.

Such a good TE draft we can get our own guy for 4 years. Also we don't have a 5th and we should take one before the 6th.

No one?

My previous post I listed CB and Center as my top free agent targets.

Now with Jonah gone, I absolutely would target Center and kick limmer to swing interior.

I think the Rams are being shortsighted here regarding Limmer however.

I'd be pretty happy if we can sign a CB like Byron Murphy or Asante Samuel Jr. Would also be nice to address our MLB need in FA as they don't tend to cost much; Willie Gay Jr would come at a cheap cost and was always impressive when he played for KC. Not sure we should break the bank on someone like Baun or Bolton. CB, MLB and a swing tackle would take fair amount of burden off the draft.

I think its mandatory that we sign a WR in FA seeing as how we only have 2 on the team currently. I kick around the idea of : Elijah Moore, Josh Palmer, or Slayton.
