I don't think Akers is gone after the season. Why? He's a productive RB, running and receiving and he knows the offense. He won't be expensive to resign. At some point they have to extend players or they will never build the roster as the attrition would be too great. I think they will take a RB but IMO it won't be before their last 5th round pick or in the 6th round more likely. There really is little difference between a late 5th round RB and one taken in the early 6th.

I think they will take an OT with their last 5th round pick. because there is a difference between OL taken in the 5th round and those taken in the 6th and 7th. The need only look at Arcuri who has yet to show he can play at this level. They signed Nsekhe because Arcuri looked so bad.

Old school NFL took the bulk of their OL in the 2nd thru 5th rounds.
I really doubt Akers is back. The rift between him and McVay showed last season when he was thrown on the trade block for “differences of opinion in offensive philosophy”. He had a nice stretch of games at the end of last season but overall has been a below average starting back. Kyren Williams and a new draftee could replace his production after this season.

I dont think Mason Rudolph gives the team more than a mid round rookie, and he will likely cost a lot more as well. Look at what Hoyer got from the Raiders, 2.2 mill per year on a 2 year deal, guaranteed.
Likely get a 5th-6th round QB for the same money although it will be for 4 years not 2
THEN blow up the position when/if retires.
Just my .02
Yeah, the back up FA QB's is a cess pool at this point. I find it pretty hard to believe that the Rams won't address QB in this draft at some point. Particularly because there appears to be a fairly deep pool of fairly talented guys that can be had mid to late round.

The Rams have Jordan (every joint in my body is inflamed) Fuller, Quentin Lake and Russ Yeast at Safety. Who is the 4th one?

Richard LeCounte III. Who was actually pretty good at Georgia.

Yeah you are right. I thought there was 4. Still tho, I don't think they take one.

No such thing IMO and we could use an upgrade

Yes, there are low value positions. Take a look at draft histories and the # of players selected. It's always corners, WRs, pass rushers. The past 10 years dating to 2012, the average # of safeties in every draft is about 20, with a high of 23 a couple years. That's right around the same number OGs and OTs. So 20 out 250ish players every year? Low value.

Low value doesn't mean it should be ignored or anything. And if there's a player that they see fit, yeah take him. I just know based on this FO they don't prioritize these positions and others (like linebackers) early. They always take these no bodies and develop them. I think almost all the past safeties have been picked in the later rounds or not even drafted.

You need safeties, we are short at that position, we have 11 picks. Taking a safety is still on the table IMO. Not saying it is happening but not a position group that is off the table with our extreme lack of depth and experience in that group
I believe McVay & Snead draft them at a much higher than average rate too 6 or so since 2017 and only 3 left so we do draft them.
Yeast, Lake, Fuller, Burgess, Johnson, Rapp, Scott,
I guess we will see but I think we are leaving open many options in this draft
Lets just hope we get some immediate contributors and good developmental players that eventually contribute.
I am pretty intrigued by what we may do with so many positions groups needing attention

Goddamn I hope you're wrong.

I very well could be but making an educated guess its pretty easy to figure out what positions they'll likely take.

-To my knowledge they haven't cut, traded, or let an offensive linemen walk. All the injured guys are coming back and yes shockingly hurt players recover w/ modern medicine and the best med staffs in the world. There's always a chance they could take some depth fodder toward the end but it won't be prioritized.

-ILBs are becoming a dinosaur position. Plus their history shows they just don't target those early, with Earnest Jones their highest pick in 2021 as a 3rd rounder (a super late one at that) and he's a good player. Using a high pick and having 2 good ILBs isn't the modern NFL.

-Why would they take a QB? The whole "grooming a QB for tHe FuTuRe" is a myth and honestly can't remember the last one that was actually "groomed".

-safety see previous posts and my other reply here

-And no you don't take returners high

-They will take a runner high because they right now they only have Cam Akers, Ronnie Rivers, and Kyren Williams. 1 guy that has injury, fumble, and was almost traded and 2 other guys that haven't done anything. The team needs a RB.

-They will take a WR high b/c one guy is looking for a trade, and even if Allen Robinson isn't traded both he and Van Jefferson are FAs after this season leaving only Cooper Kupp, Tutu Atwell, and Ben Skow as the top 3. This is how the team operates, taking guys to sit and develop. If there's a stud WR they should take him. Plus the importance and value on WRs has never been higher.

-They will take a pass rusher high because they let go of Leonard Floyd and literally have no rushers except for Michael Hoecht.

-They will take a corner high for obvious reasons.

If they take one it'll be late unless they're confident there's a stud there. Never said they don't draft safeties but they are lower, back ends of draft. Taylor Rapp being a high-ish 2nd rounder and how did that turn out? A decent player and gone after 4 years.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is a stud safety. How are the Steelers defense doing the past couple years? Kyle Hamilton was a 1st rounder and the Ravens D was doo doo too. Meanwhile the Rams played with 7th rounder Nick Scott in the damn Super Bowl lol
