The Rams don’t have a lack of pass-rushers, but they’re looking at what could be a bargain addition to an already good group.

Former Cowboys franchise-tag recipientAnthony Spencer is visiting the Rams, according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.

Other than a visit with the Redskins, the market hasn’t been robust for Spencer, who is coming off microfracture surgery on his left knee which limited him to one game last year.

While he won’t get the kind of money and long-term security he would have before the knee issues, Spencer’s an interesting gamble for a team if they think he’s well enough to get back to his 11.0-sack form of 2012.

I know, I know...there's a sticky.

We still have Hayes, though. Camp battle? I like it but only if it's for the vet minimum with no gurantees.

It does seem an odd fit. I wonder if they are planning on moving either Hayes or Sims to DT.

He did have 11 sacks a couple years ago and does a pretty good job applying pressure from the interior if memory serves me correctly. He'd probably be our best fit from that regard. I would actually be surprised if we did sign him. You'd think he'd be off the market by now being so many teams need pass rushers.

Spencer would without a doubt rotate at DT on passing downs in this defense. Would be a nice addition. Long player, big wing span that can get after the QB.

Doubt he signs, but my guess is that he'd have more of a SLB/blitzer role in Williams defense. Just like Khalil Mack would if drafted.

Then again, the source could be as accurate as the source(s) linking Verner to the Rams.

Please dont bring your past disagreements into a new thread. That simple comment (joking or not) has the potential to escalate into an issue that doesn't need to exist.

Cool?
Point taken...though I think ChrisW and I both got a laugh out of before...not really a disagreement. But I'm with ya.

I approve. This is a nice depth player, if healthy.

B/R just sent an update saying he's visiting the Giants and not the Rams.

If he really is visiting, my guess is they're looking at him as a blitzer from the SLB spot...that's where he used to play for Dallas in the 3-4.

It's a mistake. The Cowboys writer has since made the correction on twitter. He's visiting the Giants.

I agree with this. The depth at DT is average at best.
