That is my concern. He was at the second level before being touched in most of those clips...sure as hell won't have those gigantic holes to run through tho lol
I want to make it perfectly clear that I'm a big fan of Gurley and of his pick at #10.
No question that he's a terror once he hits the secondary.
And it's a treat to see how effective he can be as a receiving threat.
But let's be honest. In watching the video, I couldn't help but notice that he was into the secondary before scarcely being touched. Many times he WAS untouched. I saw some holes you could drive a truck through, frankly.
ANY RB would gain yardage with blocking like that. I'm told that none of his OL were drafted. That surprises me, because they were giving Gurley many amazing holes to run through. Hell, I think that even I could pick up 5 yards with some of those openings. Lol.
Ironically, it actually puts a bit of doubt in my mind about the Gurley comparisons to elite RB's.
Re watch it yourself, fellas, and see if you saw the same things.
ED and Bo had what I consider to be much better football speed then what I see from TG. You just did NOT see those guys getting run down by DBs in the open field (Darrell Green being the exception)...even when they had angles on them. Can't wait to see the camp reports...and see who is BPOT now...Best player in college football last year...Reminds me of Aaron Donald..as in, I expect an instant impact to be felt on Sunday's....And my initial comparison is a combo of ED, and really, Bo Jackson....
Edit....
Anybody know who that Clemson Tiger #20 is? Looks like he's got some wheels....And my secret LB crush Stephone Anthony is NOWHERE in this game....I wonder where is Vic Beasley? Small note: Clemson has some studs, I believe they'll be top ranked this year...Gives me a good feeling about Battle...

EDIT: Just watched vid more thoroughly and TG definitely DOES remind me of those 2, haha. When I watched part of that vid at work today, I didn't see the top gear that I saw watching it again. Dude is a burner...I was wrong.
Me too.Saw the same thing. Something about the Gurley pick has always felt wrong to me....which is to say I hope I AM soooooooo wrong on this one.

None of their linemen are highly ranked...Several games he'd get tackled behind the LOS....Several games he's broken tackles at the LOS...Highlights are deceptive....Trust me, the guy breaks tackles...This is not Emmitt Smith & the great wall of Dallas...In watching the video, I couldn't help but notice that he was into the secondary before scarcely being touched. I was gonna say.....unless some of these SEC DB's are slow, Gurley is the fastest RB in this draft over 220 lbs....I bet he could easily run a 4.4Just watched vid more thoroughly and TG definitely DOES remind me of those 2, haha. & BODude runs like ED
6'4" safety. That's a big DB. Guess it runs in the family.Damn, he's huge.
he runs like ED & BO. Wow, i cant get anymore excited.& BO
My prediction...Tavon nips Todd in the 40....Todd blows Tavon OUT in the 100 & esp the 200.Gurley: "Hey, Tavon! I hear tell you're suppose to be some kind of a speedster. Wanna race?"
Tavon: "Just let me hop into my track shoes,
Everytime I see him burst through the hole and run past everyone, that's what I say. lol he's a freak athlete. We have OUR beast mode guys. Wow. A guy that big isn't supposed to be able to run that fast. If anyone questions why the Rams took him #10 overall should watch this video.
