This is a good thing for a CB. Last game the only time his name was called for a penalty and today the only time I even noticed him was when he ripped Traquan Smith's helmet off. He must be doing his job well if he is not getting his name called, being a CB.

I cant recall a game where so many helmets 'flew' off in contact. Not sure they were all incidental contact. Maybe the refs just let them play after they let the 1st one go. Cant be seen to let one go and penalise the 2nd occurrence.

Yeah, he got lucky there. That really could have / should have been a penalty.

Then I'm surprised Aikman and Buck didn't proclaim it loud and clear. Apparently the sAiNtS gOt RoBbEd narrative is a money-maker for them.

Yeah, I heard that was the narrative.

I actually made one of the better decisions I've made of late, and flat out muted the broadcast, watching it without sound the whole way through. Sounds like I made the right call.

He's in a contract year. He knows he really damaged himself in the coaches eyes last year. Ever since then he's begun to play the scheme and has quit freelancing. Peters is showing he can be a good CB when he wants to be. That right there is the problem...when he wants to be. Also, more importantly, he's a zone CB not a press man CB. He has good long speed but not that good. He lacks the second gear to close if he gets behind. He's got a burst out of his breaks which is why he's a good down hill zone CB. IMO the biggest issue with him is that he's not a good fit for this offense. They play more zone than Wade likes because of Peters and Talib's age.

They drafted Long because he's a press man coverage boundary CB to replace Talib next year. Personally I think they will try to get a top FA like Darby or Roby. Failing that they will offer Peters a one year deal while they draft someone to replace him with. Darby is much faster, better in man coverage and a year younger than Peters. He's the one I would target.

I liked his hit on Cooks at the end of the highlights reel, because I rarely see MP tackle anyone, last season there were far too many times he stood & watched a teammate tackle someone a yard away. Here's to hoping that he keeps up the great work. He & JJ & Talib have to be licking their chops thinking of all the rushed throws from BM next week...

I think it was Aikman that said the new helmets fall off easier. Maybe that is why refs cutting players some slack...

Yeah what was going on there exactly? Have the Aints even been crying about it yet?
Yeah, they've been crying about it. They say that since there was no flag it is indisputable proof that the refs/NFL rigged the game.

I don't think they caught the helmet being ripped off in time tonsay anything. No one knew until they showed the replay before commercial break.

Might be in the minority but I'm a huge Marcus Peters fan and I hope we extend him. People forget dude is young, only 26 years old.

26 isn't that young in the NFL. He's in his 5th season. He's talented, but how likely is he to put it all together at this point? I am skeptical. I'd rather keep Talib for another season or so, and draft a long term replacement, and let some other team overpay Peters while the Rams get a 2021 draft pick, quite possibly a third since teams overpay for CBs in free agency if they look good at times.

He's never gonna be Jalen Ramsey but I think he's shown plenty at 26 to make you think he could be the long term number 2 corner. We're not that far removed from our secondary being an Achilles heel. Back when it was trumaine Johnson and kayvon Webster. Talib isn't getting any younger. I really don't want to go into next season with two new guys in the secondary.

Teams routinely overpay for CBs that are even a little flashy, even if they aren't actually particularly effective. If he were cheap, that'd be one thing - but some team will pay him like he's a star and he's not. The Rams have too many big contracts and too many legitimate impact players who are nearing free agency to pay a decent cornerback who doesn't tackle very well the big money.

They've been crying so much that New Orleans has taken over the Dead Sea as the saltiest place on earth.

You always say Peters is always freelancing and not playing the scheme. Peters is a very good CB WHEN Talib is in, bc he is put in a position to play to his strengths. Last season Peters got dominated when he took Talibs spot. It has nothing to do with freelancing, and every bit of having to play a scheme he was not comfortable with.

Perfect example of over paying corners. Trumaine Johnson got something like $70 million and is signed until 2022.........and he was benched by the Jets on Monday night in favor of another player.
Teams are desperate for corners. We all knew he was overpaid at the time.

Peter's will be priced out of the Rams range. I'm not as high on long as many here are, but it would make sense to resign Talib and let Peters walk, especially since Wade doesn't favor zone coverage. That way Talib can help Long adjust to starting. They need to draft another press corner in the next draft also. That is why I'd trade for Ramsey if they can sign him to for a few years. They won't find close to his talent level at the backend, and I think Long won't be anything special.
