No. Did they draft for back ups last? They drafted impact players which is exactly what this draft was to mimic.
After this last year you know as well as I do the right rookies can contribute day one being a significant role player.
The problem with the same old mindset on this board is the lazy ‘fan’ way of thinking and not having enough time, football knowledge, and/or info to come to a educated idea which way the leaders of this franchise is going to take us.
Then being criticized for not thinking the same lazy block headed way. Go back and look at the offseason mock we traded Jared, guess who was the only person mocking trading our QB, to the same block headed blind thinking.
Look kid (
assumption made by the childish, immature response), I recall a few mock drafts trading Jared. A couple,
including my own, that suggested such even
prior to Snead’s “He’s a Ram at the moment” comment. And there probably would have been even more if the trade wasn’t announced so early that offseason.
I’m not and never said that it’s impossible for rookies to contribute. But I will say that each draft class is different, and a team's one strong draft class does not change the likelihood that most rookies don’t make
immediate impacts. And that the success rate for these
immediate impact players is far greater for the higher selected players. Obviously, you believe the same given your efforts to move up to acquire so many third-round selections.
My
educated idea is that leaders of this franchise is going to do what they believe is best for the organization. If that's trading #19 for a veteran, keeping the pick, or trading down. Unlike yourself, it appears, I don't believe there's a set plan this early as circumstances can change daily. ie. an opposing team willing to move a player. The team being unable to retain a player. Contract issues. Off the field issues. etc...
We are just spit balling here regarding the crapshoot called the NFL Draft. Mocks, while fun, are an even bigger crapshoot than the actual draft itself. And the addition of trades increase that crapshoot even further as the fan of the team making the moves
always gets what he or she wants no matter how unrealistic given it
takes two to tango. Example, the KC trade suggested. They've got many key players (almost 30 total) hitting free agency, only about $15 million in cap space, and only 6 draft choices to date. Could they trade up? Sure. Picks can be made up by trading down later. Is it likely. I'd bet against it. You wouldn't I suppose and that's fine.
That doesn't make me or you any less intelligent. Just two people having a difference of opinion.
