Just throwing darts, but if the Broncos are moving on, I really liked this kid coming out, and still think he has a very high ceiling. Siemian would be worth a look also, if they become available. Probably cheap too.

Got to love his stache too!

The physical traits are great, but apparently doesn't have much devotion to working on his craft. Don't know how much value he brings.

The letdown of Paxton Lynch
The Denver Broncos have needed a quarterback for two seasons straight and Paxton Lynch has failed to answer that call.

As our season is already far over and we’re dancing in the schadenfreude of folly from our division rivals jokes.

The QB is where it is at in the NFL and as we get ready to embark on a new era for the Denver Broncos, I feel it is a good idea to take a look back at one of the more polarizing disappointments for the Broncos in recent years: Paxton Lynch.

His saga isn’t even over, but it sure feels that way to me.

A look back
We traded up in the draft to go get a guy who looked like a dangerous prospect coming out of college with a big arm and athletic ability to boot. John Elway was getting his strut on as he beamed with pride after drafting Lynch.

Then came two years of frustration.

Lynch couldn’t beat out a future real-estate salesman. Even when the deck seemed so obviously stacked in his favor to start the 2017 season.

Go read the press conference quotes. Vance Joseph “didn’t want a game manager.”

And this from Elway:

“We’d like the decision made by itself. We’ve talked about that decision being made by itself. We want one of them to take the reins and take over it would be the ideal situation.”

All pre-season it seemed to me and many others closely watching the team that Elway and the Broncos wanted Lynch to step up and take over.

But that plan never matured.

And even when he did get time on the field, he still looked like a guy fresh to the league who didn’t even seem to have a clean grasp on the offense (¾ of the way through the season might I add).

So what is the problem?
The problem is that Paxton Lynch is a small-school QB who came into the league that basically speaks a foreign language two eras ahead of where he was developmentally.

And from where I sit, instead of strapping in and busting his tail, he just picked up his helmet and “did his best” during business hours with nothing to show for it but a seat on the outside looking in after a 5 - 11 season that he didn’t even get a shot to play in half the games.

We’ve heard the whispers here and there: Dude spent too much time last year playing X-box instead of working on his craft.

The team this preseason seemed quite smug while the “competition” was going on and then celebratory when Trevor Siemian was finally named the starter after weeks of derpy play by Lynch.

The problem is, ladies and gentlemen, Paxton Lynch is a bust and it isn’t about him not getting a chance. This is the NF FRIGGIN L. You don’t ask for a chance, you take it. If the coaches aren’t noticing you, put something on the screen that gets their attention.

Yet, I’m thinking back and not recalling one singular play that makes me think this kid ever got it.

My crystal ball says…
Don’t hold your breath on Paxton Lynch ever making it in the NFL. Elway may not release him, but you can bet money on him trying to trade him for anything this offseason.

And let me say that the right move is to release him. He’s a boat anchor weighing down this team...you could say that about almost every QB in the locker room from the 2017 season. Every team in the NFL needs a QB who is going to bust his tail to be excellent at his craft and after 2 years I think we can say with some certainty that that is not the M.O. of Paxton Lynch.

Rumor has it he didn’t want to go back in a game he was pulled when Osweiller was as bad as him and going to be pulled. I liked the kid out of college but a hard no from me on him.

Damn X-Box, ruining another players potential. Thanks for the article. I didn't know the particulars, just that he couldn't stay healthy. To be fair, Kurt Warner refused to go in a game early in his career, but I think he couldn't afford an X-BOX.

I sure as shit hope that Brandon Allen can play. Throw some suggestions, because I truly hope that we don't think we are set at backup QB.

I don't even think we'd have to trade for them, they have to release some QB's. Personally, I don't give up on a player after a couple years, especially, when they have had non-career injuries. We don't have to look very far to see what our staff did with Goff. Every QB has struggled in Denver, but I saw some flashes in Trevor. Didn't really see hardly anything for Lynch, I just liked his ability coming out.

I think Mike White is a good fit, if he slips in the draft.

The Denver Broncos are expected to land a shiny new quarterback when NFL free agency opens Wednesday. Quarterback Case Keenum intends to sign with the team, according to various reports.

So what does that news mean for the team’s 2017 quarterbacks?

First and foremost, the Trevor Siemian era is over in Denver. The Broncos are expected to trade Siemian and they may be able to fetch a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick in exchange for his services.

Denver is also expected to move on from Brock Osweiler, who is set to become a free agent Wednesday. Don’t expect the Broncos to make Osweiler an offer to return, even as a backup.

Here’s what the team’s current QB depth chart looks like:

QB1: Case Keenum
Denver will probably claim this offseason and they’re having an “open competition” at quarterback, but they’re not bringing in Keenum to sit on the bench in Week 1. Sure, if he struggles Keenum may be replaced, but the Broncos undoubtedly want him to come in and be the starter.

QB2: Paxton Lynch
Denver general manager John Elway has said the team is not giving up on Paxton Lynch, so fans shouldn’t expect him to go anywhere. Lynch will likely compete to be the team’s No. 2 quarterback this summer.

QB3: Chad Kelly
Ah, yes, Chad Kelly. Remember him? Kelly spent all of his rookie season on the team’s non-football injury list with knee and wrist injuries. The Broncos viewed him as a potential future starter when they drafted him, though, so Kelly can’t be overlooked. Kelly’s probably viewed as a backup for now, but that could change down the road.

Keenum is expected to sign a short contract with Denver, so there’s a chance that Lynch or Kelly could still emerge as a starter once Keenum’s time with the Broncos comes to an end.

I just found this article, if true, john Elway is an idiot also, along with me. Lol.

I'm with you, Doc. I'd take Siemian or Lynch if they're giving them away for basically nothing. I'd like to see what McVay could do with them. I might also reach out to a few other teams who might want to dump a young backup like Connor Cook, Cody Kessler, or Josh Dobbs.

Something about him just rubs me wrong but not sure why. Don't want to question a guys motivation when I know next to nothing about him but that's the vibe I get. Might be wrong. If we keep all the picks we have now or add some through trade downs I'd love to spend a 6th on a developmental guy to learn from McVay now. Never hurts to keep QBs in your back pocket just in case.

When we were drafting 15th I thought it was a reach for this guy . Happy we moved up and got Jared, not sure what Elway saw in this guy but Paxton seems like a brat . He should be developed by now , he isn't so that makes him a bust.

Not sure if he has a place in the NFL, he was replaced by osweiler who was traded the season before .

Pretty sure that was either a scrimmage or pre-season game and his reasoning was that he wasn't ready - not that he was pouting for not playing or being pulled.

Anyhoots....put me in there with Jrry and Connor Cook....somebody like that....
