But there is a huge difference between holding out for more pay and asking to be released because they wanted to take money away.

Except it says in the report that he was wrestling her phone away trying to get her to stop recording. That would indicate.... wait for it.... a second phone.
 
So if 37mil of the 57 mil contract (exact numbers I will leave to the cap pro's) are guarnteed, would the Rams recoup future guarantees as well as per game availability losses should this go completely sideways?

DISCLAIMER: I have no idea what will happen, what did happen and am not guessing but am curious as to what recourse & resources the Rams would have to acquire an LT in regards to economics in the worse case.

A lot just depends on what happens and if he's suspended, etc. So at the moment he has $5 million of signing bonus hitting our cap this year and next... that is unavoidable cap hit/dead money this year and next. His only guarantee moving forward is his base salary this year of $18.4 million. There are no guarantees next year just a roster bonus if on team after a certain point (usually around start of league year). So if we just out right cut him today without waiting for process we'd take a cap hit for his base salary and prorated bonus this year plus the other $5 million next year. If he gets suspended say 6 games i think we would save $6.5 million roughly or just over $1 million a game. I think that salary cap gets applied the next year though? Not sure on when that impacts cap.

Either way, there are very little savings this season no matter what happens I think. But we have a pretty easy out after 2026 no matter what happens to save around $19.4 million in cap space and maybe additional if we recoup for suspensions.

'He took my phone during the attempt I fought to hold on I bit him trying to keep possession of phone,' she alleged. 'He took it and my headphones, broke them & threw my phone. At which point I started to record the erratic behavior at which point he flipped my food over.'

'When he came back in from taking things to the car he became upset I was recording, he struggled w/ me for my phone I told he him to be careful because I’m pregnant, he said "I don't give a f***." I got bruises, scratches and cuts in the scuffle. He took my keys & phone and threw them over our city view yard,' she added.‘

I read this as one phone, since both quotes mention throwing them over the yard. Meaning reiterating the story.

1) Jackson took something to the car
2) Came in found her recording
3) Struggle happened, leaving bruises and scratches
4) Broke phone, tossed it.

I think it’s very poor journalism that makes it seem like there are two phones. I’d be curious to see the actual police report, even tho I’m sure we wont

Do we know for sure that the suspension will happen this year?

Possibly so. The various versions though all read as if there is a phone involved AFTER he breaks the other phone and the head phones. I'd say that with how lazy and poorly things seem to be written these days though, it is very possible you are correct. Cheers.

Do we know what time the NFL might drop the bomb on on Rams ref. Alaric? Before the season opens ? Early in the season or late in the season? Snead/McVay has to know that there is going to be a big hit incoming @ LT.

Last seasons reserve LT cure was unbearable. Watching veteran DJ Humphries attempting to block period was a horror show of the first order. I have proof but IMO after observing DJ Humphries 7.4% of the season snaps in place of Alaric Jackson @ LT ...McVay took out DJ out & he never saw the field again & they went with David Quessenberry from that point. DJ not knowing the offense plays was obvious.

Bringing in a LT who is broken worn down, ultra high expensive (earned $ 23 million in 2025), plus not knowing this McVay offense Taylor Decker may not be the cure most think.

Why would anyone think TD has a reason to come to LA and take a huge price cut? When TD can hold out & get it later anyway from other NFL teams elsewhere when the injuries start to hit.

I have heard that the Rams could entertaining to flip flop starting RT McClendon to the LT to plug for a time.....no like weakens both OT posts cures nothing. I am sure if that was being considered Quessenberry would start @ RT not a rookie Keagen Trost who does not know this offense.

We might see a past Ram who was a LT reserve, who knows this offense & kept his nose clean, however is a serious walking injury.:weary:

allowed 14 total pressures in pass protection. That total included 1 sacks and 3 hits allowed to opposing pass rushers. He was flagged for 0 penalties over the course of the season.

I do know there are a few RT's that could be got but that does not help anything. I have no real answers at this time.

Decker might adapt better to the offense having played in a similar scheme in Detroit. Plus not sure he is broken down, but it is a concern. IMO Noteboom cannot stay healthy so that is why I would never consider him.

Alaric Jackson and his lawyer can play this out and postpone the court hearings and a trial well into 2027. I believe the NFL would have to wait until a verdict is reached before it can impose any punishment. Maybe they can offer a large settlement amount, and she drops the charges.

If the suspension can be delayed until next season that would be a relief. Possibly we can offload him prior also. A good starting LT should be worth a decent amount, even with baggage. But, I think we should rid ourselves of him.
