I'm not saying other players aren't to blame, however, wearing the dot has responsibilities/burdens. Moreover, with respect to Peters on that one play, we don't know why he may have gotten confused - if it was all him, then it's all on him, but for example, if CL mumbled the call or used less than explicit signals and Peters didn't get it clearly, that's a different matter.

My earlier post wasn't intended to focus on one play or just one game. The defense has been less than stellar. While CL may be a sacred cow to some, he's not beyond questioning as far as I'm concerned.
Definitely not a sacred cow and your right, except for AD, nobody on this defense is not beyond questioning but in my opinion Littleton is the least of our worries.

I agree. My wife called the fake. I said no way they risk it in a close game. It, it happened and that bad spot ruined a chance to regain the momentum.

As to the Oline holding, every team does that on pass plays. It’s obvious that the league is fine with it. But the dbs holding, I don’t recall that being okay except for the Patriots/Rams Super Bowl.

The Rams DB's were not close enough to any Saints WR's to get a hold of them.

They would have needed arms 3 yards long to have a chance.

I don't think the league is fine with it, I think they need more refs on the field. Only one guy is watching the entire OL and DL.

Ever though Rodgers is 0-35 against teams with winning records late in games?

He's NEVER done what you assume he would. Ever. In 35 attempts.

I have no faith in our DB's . They have been giving up big plays all year . The offense has been making up for it by scoring points .

Huh? Didn’t Rodgers come back from 20-3 down in the 4th to beat the Bears, who are currently 5-3?

I'll bet 99% of Ram fans took a big sigh of relief knowing Rodgers wasn't getting a chance . The writing was on the wall

They call holding on running plays though. And overlook Olinemen wrapping their arms around defensive lineman's necks. It doesn't get much more blatant than that. Since the high scoring offenses and fantasy football stats are what sells, the league is allowing holding on pass plays. Mo' money is the name of the game. It just took the Rams OLine half a season to catch up to the new norm.

35 points in one half. Pathetic. No sacks, no punts, no three and outs. Pathetic. 1st half the Rams D couldn't stop a runny nose. Pathetic.

they caused a turnover 30 yards out from the saints endzone. then the offense went 4 and out.

Other guys, like Joyner probably are not trusting Peters (or others) to do his/their jobs, so they try to compensate

if they're not trusting him wouldn't they cheat to his side of the field? most of the long bombs are peters' way. seems like they're trusting him when they shouldn't be.

Joyner's play has been as bad or worse than Peters, and he's getting paid more and didn't get traded or change D schemes in the offseason.

and the rams paid him 3 times what the safety market rate was this season. so he's making 3 years salary in one year. he plays like his mind is preoccupied with something else and reacts too late to make any kind of difference on any random play.

they won't be bringing him back. 100%.

Adding to what everyone else has said, I think we need to look at Littleton wearing the dot.

Littleton's making the calls, but so far he's seemed to have escaped any blame for the D's performance. I think if there's confusion in the defense, like where Peters got burned again, you have to at least question the guy tasked with making the calls.

The defense is full of alpha dogs and I'm not sure that Littleton is the right guy to be making the calls. There was a preseason article about how he's a quiet guy. There was stuff after the Hawks game about how he was letting Mark Barron make the calls and Gurley got on Littleton's ass about making it his defense. In other words, Littleton seems like a guy with beta tendencies trying to keep a bunch of alphas in order - not sure that's a recipe for success.

But yeah, he's a special teams monster, and seems to have some pass rush ability off the edge, so he's definitely a priority-keep. Maybe the Rams should look at getting Barron or someone else the dot.

i had the exact same thought during the game there were times when the D didnt seem to have a clue what was called ...they looked confused AF on an number of plays especially the secondary

Yeah Rodgers is great, but has not proven to be that money dude late in the 4th.

Maybe the Rams should have signed Suh•Da•Fed instead!
The way Peters was making "snorting snot" noises in that locker room interview he needs some sort of cold medication.

I truly believe the NFL steers games so that the teams they want to win will win, but it’s got to be good for the NFL for the Rams to win, So come playoff time we’ll be getting those calls.

Ludicrous. Think about this. "The NFL steers games so the teams they want to win will win." You are describing pro wrestling, do you think the NFL is pro wrestling? And since the Rams are part of the NFL, the Rams are complicit in losing to the Saints because that is what the NFL wanted, according to you. I guess the NFL somehow left the Cleveland Browns out of that game-fixing process for the last two years.

Relax bud. It’s ok if people have different opinions than you do.
Plenty of people agree with me. If you think NFL officials call the game the same for Brady as they do for some backup qb you must not watch much football.
