I will not support this move under any circumstances. What has this guy shown to warrant a job here?

Everyone seems to have an opinion about offensive coordinators. However, until Jeff Fisher changes his offensive philosophy, any coordinator the Rams hire will have the perception of being conservative and lacking creativity. For the teams sake, the O-line had better become dominant and get a decent QB that can play all 16 games in order to compensate for this conservative philosophy.

You mean the philosophy that has Seattle primed for its 2nd championship in as many years?

I do agree they need to rebuild the OL and find a QB, however the philosophy and talent are two different issues.

Merlin, yes, you and I get that. But then we're not the ones complaining about Schottenheimer and critiquing the ones the Rams haven't even hired yet. ;)

Merlin, I am sorry..... I didn't know you had posted about them earlier. You do seem to be critical of Shotty and some of the other possible candidates. So, if I may ask, if the O-line had performed at a higher level and Bradford and been healthy the whole year, do you think Shotty's game plans and play calling would've got the Rams another 4 wins?

To answer your hypothetical question: I do believe with a healthy Bradford and strong OL Schotty could have brought us 10 wins.

Here's the thing though... Why have an OC who needs dominant players at just about every position to win games? Why settle for a bottom third OC when you can have someone who can mask deficiencies with scheme and actually dictate to defenses? Because even with those ten wins, Schotty would have been immediately out-gameplanned in the playoffs and our happiness would quickly turn on us when we get eliminated.

Not to go off on a Schotty tangent here because this thread is about Hackett. But IMO he is way too much like Schotty, has a lot to prove so from my perspective he is a bad hire for the Rams. Fish needs someone who brings some proven history. Chud would be perfect. Shanny Jr fine.

I want to see Fish succeed, but if he hires another dud we're gonna be stuck watching the whole thing burn down around him. I really hope he makes a strong hire and that definitely omits Hackett.
