I am confident from the statements made this year by Les Snead that not only is there money budgeted, but a deal will get done. The Rams know their business better than any fantasy GM's, so I don't care how much it costs...that's Demoff's, Snead's, and ultimately Stan Kroenke's business.

The human element that no one talks about is that these players remember when hope is deferred. In the past, hurt feelings happened within frustrated homegrown talent who wanted long term contracts two years before free agency. The fact that we were so pathetically bad, for so long, made it easy for them to think "Ok, be that way. I'm not re-signing a year out, and I will test FA..." We have lost guys like Jenkins, McCloud, and essentially Trujo a few years ago, who was held from leaving by the franchise tag. I never heard with any of these guys from Snead that "we have his contract accounted for in the budget" (paraphrase). This is different, and makes me hopeful that a deal will get done for a sure fire, Hall of Famer in #99.

IMO #99 is 100% a lock to get a contract before our first game and probably 80% chance before our first pre season game. It’s going to get done, it just hadn’t happened yet.

As you said, our FO has their shit together and no way they let this play out beyond this year/season.

The Rams have already cleared contracts. Money's there. So at this point it's time for Demoff to get it done. He's been up to bat for a while now. This isn't new.

We can go the route of that old argument you make, but the fact is there's room for them to get him done but he's still not done. Can't imagine why not, if he's the priority the team has said over and over that he is.

Is he asking for starting QB money? I mean don't get me wrong I'm still confident the Rams are gonna sign him. But I am goddamn tired of him holding out and the lip service. Show me a signed contract. Pics of him signing. For the love of F.

I believe it will get done before Camp.

Not participating in voluntary workouts sure sounds like AD is signaling he won't show for OTA's and TC again unless he gets that extension.

We know from Snead’s comments they have an agreed to timeline when they’ll finalize a deal. Unless we’re going to assume Snead was lying all we need to do is relax and wait for the announce, ent. Hell I’d bet they discuss him not attending voluntary workouts as part of the timeline. The team knows he doesn’t need them and it’s just an injury risk until a deal is signed.

Never alluded to Snead lying. I don't think Les Snead has much to do with it either tbh.

Timeline means very little, only that they intend to get it done. Not freakin out or anything, just tired of hearing the lip service.

There are other contracts, players, and specifics to consider. You can’t just hand out contracts then you’d be the first to say “ Demoff is an idiot” chill things are getting handled.

There is a clear tendency by the Rams' front office to not get their best players signed. It is directly related to Kevin Demoff. I don't need to chill just because I want to see action instead of words.

But if you feel like a better fan because you are certain everything will work out, ok. Pat yourself on the back and have a nice day.

I'm going to wait until something actually happens. Anything.

What best players?

Which ones are we reeling from not resigning right now? Could be you or I don't know what their plans for the future holds or right now with which current players we have? Yeah.

I'd say our roster is in pretty good shape, but that's just me.

Are we are currently hurting for failing to resign players like Janoris Jenkins to an outrageous contract with a shitty personality.... yeahhh that's good business.

Same with Sammy Watkins.

If you want to keep throwing a pity party about it go ahead if it helps you get through it all.

Go back and read my posts. If you think that's a pity party, we'll just agree to disagree. I'm not the one telling another poster how to think here.

Once again: have a nice day.

In addition to a timeline snead has said AD will be the highest paid defensive player in the league and that they have his contract in the budget. They did not say either of those things last year. Its a done deal and AD will not miss any significant time or workouts.

He will be signed before pre season and already has a year in wades system.

Brockers will have an even better year than his career year last season.

I wonder if K Mack and AD are both waiting for the other to sign, so the one remaining can sign a larger contract to be the highest paid defensive player.

Mack is elite but if he thinks hes worth more than AD, he's out of his damn mind

I suspect in the Rams eyes and most in the NFL, Mack’s contract may have something to do with this but if the Raiduhs are willing to pay AD type dollars to Mack, the Rams may be better off in the long run not upping the ante just because of this. It may just be in their interest to get it done first. AD’s people may be waiting to see, but at that point, you simply can’t be waging your future against what Al Jr might do. Put a great deal out there and if it is not accepted, you play hard ball.

The rams should just sign AD now, making him the highest paid (gulp) defensive player in NFL history. If the raiders want to pay more than that, let em.

So I was perusing a couple of other ram forum sites, and they're both having debates on who is a better defensive player, Mack or Donald. I felt like signing up long enough to say HELLO! Who's the reigning defensive player of the year? Oh, and exactly what team are you a fan of? Talk about IDIOTS!:palm:

This is a good point and I don't disagree.

Just observing that first off we have that history of bleeding our better players and signing the median ones. And this offseason of course, under this regime, they could not agree with Trumaine, Watkins or Joyner. Granted, Tru I understand and I don't blame the Rams for him leaving. But it sure would be nice to see them start knockin down the big dominoes and demonstrate that they really have turned the corner in the front office.

Not tryin to be debbie downer here, although clearly I find myself in that role again. Just feelin cautious as these stories on AD start to break and sound a whole hell of a lot like last year's spin. So we'll see.

But the major difference is that last year the rams said he was a top priority and that they wanted him to be a ram for a long time. This year they are adding that they have him in the budget and that he is about to become the highest paid defensive player ever. Big difference, Debbie.
