I think the delay is on AD. I'm sure the Rams want him for at least 2 more years. IMO AD is deciding if he wants to play 2 more years. If the Rams can get Hunter I think that would go a long way in convincing him. Regardless I think the decision will come this week.

One reason AD should get a 4th DPOY in 2022 will be when voters see how Miller performs in Buffalo. If he gets 9 sacks (or less) on the season it'll be 4 straight years with less than 10 sacks......read: older, declining player.......and the best year of the 4 will be the year he played along side AD. Just like Fowler. Just like Floyd. Or Suh for that matter. The only time he's had 30 solos and 50 total tackles the last 5 years was the season spent on a line with AD. That's why AD is the perennial DPOY. He gets his numbers and he gets everybody else's numbers for them!!!!
AD deserved it every year as far as I’m concerned and I totally agree that Miller was boosted by ADs game.

What will be missed if they can’t replace it is Millers holding the edge as much as his pass rush. Donald’s needs some pressure taken off of him.

Thanks brother.

So, out of all the talk about freeing up space, outside of AD re-doing his deal with an extension, how do we free up all this cash that was reported. Like $40M+ ?
They can still restructure Ramsey, Kupp, and Havenstein if they want to free up more money.

This is why I was so upset when I heard Von Miller was leaving. He was good for Aaron Donald. I thought it was a match made in heaven. Although, like many have said... I can't blame Miller for chasing the big bucks in Buffalo. I love Buffalo, but I don't think Miller will be happy.

Can I ask a question? Why are the Rams renegotiating Donald's contract when he still has like 3 years left? He is still making 20 million per year, and I think the team is spending money that could be used in other places. Did Donald ever say he was unhappy? I realize he is worth more on the open market, but teams can't be renegotiating every other year just because someone else is making more money. See Von Miller and his last 6-year deal.

Pretty sure it was out that he wants to be the highest paid defender. And that's why. And I think the money left isn't all guaranteed?

I think he made a mistake too. I reiterate, he stood to make more in endorsements in LA. The annual pay is similar.

I actually like the Buffalo area. But it’s not LA.

I don't think Donald is making $20M-per-year. The cap-hit to the Rams is more than $20M-per-year.
However, Donald's salary and roster bonus totals are less than $20M per-year for 2022-2024.

Maybe this deserves its own thread, I don’t really know. The Athletic wrote an article about just how toxic Urban Meyer was with the Jaguars. I thought this was funny:

Agreed. I always hated that. If you sign a contract, you should have to know going into it that salaries will inflate thereafter. At the time of the signing, I believe Donald was being made the highest paid defender (could be wrong)?

He was when he signed, and then the day after (I believe) Khalil Mack signed his new deal that made him the highest paid, not Donald.

I remember AD and Khalil Mack racing to be the highest paid. I don't exactly remember, but I think AD was the highest paid defender for like a day or two before Mack signed his contract?

Totally based off memory, I could be very wrong.

After reading it I had to wonder if Meyer just looked at it like a money grab and wasn’t serious about coaching the Jaguars. The things he did were absurd
I never thought he'd be a good NFL coach. He was surely a good college coach because he has no salary cap, most other programs did or didn't engage in that behavior. Haha.
