I'm thinking...what's the deal with some wanting to draft a LT??? Jackson is doing well for a guy with 2 years under his belt.

Totally agree. And the 8th pick in the draft versus a 16th pick does not guarantee any better of a player.
Nor does the 2nd pick vs the 262nd pick.

Everything is fluid. However, you want a stout run-blocking, pass-blocking OL to protect Matthew and his RBs.

Kyren couldn't do much earlier in the season because the run-blocking wasn't up to snuff. Now he is seeing some daylight. Matthew was not sacked on Sunday, but, of course, it was only the Redbirds. The Brownies' D will be much more troublesome.

McSnead will be eying the growth | decline of players and make their final roster evaluation at season's end.

He's doing well for a UDFA but he struggles against good pass rushers and really struggles against the greats. Need a bookend LT, and Jackson is just a guy until we find it

He's doing fantastic for a udfa.

Almost unheard of really but he has also struggled in a few games against elite pass rushers.

And don't get me wrong because I'm definitely his biggest fan.

Definitely an under appreciated part of this.. His lack of game experience in the NFL and at LT.

He's got 6 more games to answer a lot of questions.

Had his best game.. and if he keeps improving, he may keep the job.

@Rams43 They have been using four safeties in the last two games along with 2 corners. Lame is injured. When Lake is back, I think we’ll see less of Reeder and Rozeboom.

I guess it depends on how the draft board falls. I like Aleric but he struggled against fast edge rushers and seems to get lost on stunts. He just looks too slow in general, mentally and physically. Olu Fashanu is a great pass protector but he’s not the best run blocker. Either way, if the Rams finish outside the top ten then they don’t have a shot at Alt or Fashanu. So maybe they roll with Aleric another season.

I’d rather see them spend their first round pick on interior Dline and draft Johnny Newton if possible.

Maybe they could sign a left tackle and edge rusher in free agency.

People need to temper their judgment of the defensive front 7. What you see is what Morris wants. His front 7 is playing passively, i.e. allowing the play to come to them instead of attacking the play. What do you guys think a 2 gap NT and gap and a half for the rest means? It's all about defending the LOS not disrupting the offense. It's designed to limit the offense not stop them.

When you ask the NT to align heads up to the center and for the DT and DE to collapse the A gaps (that is what gap and a half means) it means the NT is supposed to stand the center up and shed him if the run is inside. The DT and DE are supposed to pinch inside to narrow the A gaps changing their trajectory from penetration to simply closing down run lanes. Why do you think I say it's about defending the LOS not disrupting the play in the backfield? It makes the OL calls and the read by the QB all too easy the minute they see the NT align heads up on the center. In other words Morris is showing his defense before the snap making the OL calls much easier.

Yeah it makes running inside harder but conversely it makes running outside easier which is why people are bitching about lack of contain. They criticized Hoecht for doing exactly what Morris wanted him to do. We have seen the improvement in the secondary by simply allowing them to play aggressively. Can you imagine how good this secondary would be with Ramsey still there? But Morris wasted his talent by making him play in a passive zone.

So what I'm saying is that people need to temper their criticism of the defensive players because a lot of what we are seeing is the product of a ultra conservative passive DC and the way he chooses to play his personnel. Pleasant's influence on the secondary is proof of that.
